I don't feel the need for italics because I don't think anyone is going to be dumb enough to wimp melee.

Also, how are you suppose to control what kind of suit your enemy has? The only way to get rid of the suit is to jloot them, and you can't do that if your spells aren't working...Chicken and the Egg man...

Well, you've named one way. SKs is all about people, so get some people together and gank them once, then you take their great suit and you get a time period, usually between a day and a week, of easy kills.

You could also threaten sympathetic enchanters and the like. There are plenty of ways to prevent people from getting good gear, and taking it off them when they do.

Unless you go ahead and enchant your eq though, magic in my opinion, is a hell of a lot more dangerous with the massive list of instant kills that are out there.

So, SK offers the ability to every class to wear enchanted armor aka the ability to nullify magic damage and there is still this "unless you go ahead and" argument?

That argument can be replaced with "If you are lazy, magic will still hurt. If you are not a newbie though, you will be immune to magic".

So choose in what category you are. A newbie without any enchants or someone who understands mechanics and enchants his suit to avoid all magic?

You people mistake preparation as what buffs you have, what things you quaff before a PK and all. You are mistaken. The most important preparation for every PK is done days, weeks, even months before the PK. It's called enchanted armor. If you don't have enchanted armor, you missed the most important tactic of preparation for PKing.

And the problem here is that once a caster has spent that time preparing/having someone prepare his armor, and the warrior has had his armor prepared, the caster can't use his spells on the warrior, but the warrior can still slice through the caster like butter on a sunny day.

Edit: Unless the caster uses his awesome melee warrior creation/charm spells that can kill anything at all. Oh, wait, only Necromancers can do that after they've gathered about twenty gm corpses + weapons. Again, massive necro weakness we all know. Aren't you happy that necromancers can't enchant?

I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you but yes, you can make yourself immune to magic just as you can make yourself immune to melee. Except you obviously missed the part where you don't even need to get resistances to be immune to melee, its called sitting 3rd row with wimpy up, I know this obviously takes a million times longer than getting a full suit of highly enchanted armor so i'm sympathetic towards your plight of having to type "quaff word" to avoid all your melee troubles. I mean at least you have to put some actual time in to save yourself from magic, whereas avoiding melee deaths is as simple as using basic game mechanics.

I mean unless you can enchant yourself than getting a suit with good resistances isn't a cakewalk. Most people aren't willing to sit down and spend the many hours, yes it takes many hours, to build you a good suit. Hell it'll take many hours just to make one good ring. Whats it take to be immune to melee damage, maybe some defensive herbs and a pet in front? And what happens when you don't have good resistances? Your opening yourself up to the massive range of instant kill spells.

All of your examples for escaping melee also escape magic except for 'being 3rd row' Which only a few classes can archive by themselves, and even less can achieve without assistance of a tribunal or cabal.

Quaffing word, and using wimpy make you immune to magic also genius.

Try again.

Archive...Yes, a library or something would really help...

I think the word you're looking for is achieve.

To play devil's advocate here, the only example you use requires hours of another persons time, so another person plus a pet = third row.

No one asked you! Besides, 3rd row you can still be backstabbed, or shot at with arrows/crossbow bolts.

I'm not claiming people should be able to be immune to melee. I just think a merc shouldn't be able to two round a GM hellion in addy/tanso.

Maybe thats just me though.

Oh please, getting third row is a complete joke. If you don't know how to get third row than you shouldn't be in this game mechanics discussion. Plus wimpy owns backstab as long as you don't awkwardly let your enemies follow you, and -then- backstab you. And if you show me a warrior 2 rounding a hellion i'll show you a hellion without defensive spells who should be in a situation where his dominate and him -easily- out damage anything one single warrior could put out.
