Songs are magic, and you can't focus magic (through magic words or magic song) while you're prone.

Additionally, have you ever tried to sing while you're thrown to the ground? It just doesn't work. You can talk, but there's no way you're singing. It's hard to maintain an even tone any time vibrations travel through your body.

Songs are NOT magic, persay. If they were, they would not work in no-magic rooms.

Different kind of magic, example.
You can't sing.
I can.

You aren't magical.
I am.

Dulrik has said flat out before that songs are infused with magic. This comment seems like more of an argument to make songs affected by no magic rooms.

Peso wins

In the intention of being realistic, I don't think a bard should be able to sing while prone.
But then, that leaves bards to being left to second and third row supports (like they are really meant to be) but able to do absolutely nothing other then sing. Which would make them underpowered and boring.

Are you kidding? Songs and dancing is insane. A bard CAN go front row, just like a rogue or a scout can. It's just silly for them to do so. Note that many rogue skills are negated if they are even in hand to hand with someone.

Bards are charismatic performers of the highest quality. Gifted bards are
frequently employed by lords and even kings. However, bards are not known
only for their musical talent. A bard's performance is an excellent cover
for other types of covert activities. For this reason, a bard is usually
a jack of all trades, with a knowledge of history and good combat skill
as well as the powers of a magically infused voice.

Is a help file good enough Muktar?

I guess the above quote is suitable. Muktar, you have to stop proving me right about you. You just don't get it.

Considering that you can speak when prone, and the fact that prone doesn't interupt current singing (as it shouldn't), bards should be able to start songs while prone.

I wouldn't object to that, so long as a bard has a chance of being disrupted when being thrown into prone position, and a penalty to starting song again while in that position. While bards may be the ultimate masters of vocal control, they should be subject to some kind of reasonable limitations to keep them in balance, and all those nifty combat autoskills we get are an awfully convenient backup.

I'm with the majority on this one. It's impossible to hold a tone while you're being slammed to the ground. I'd even go so far as to say that being bashed should interrupt singing if it doesn't, but I imagine that would raise all sorts of hell wouldn't it?

Then again, I've already said it.
