Very nice change. Thumbs up.

As I said before, I'd much rather have a game without gate anchors than I'd have one where people fight over whose judge they should be at.

Secondly, I hope this encourages further exploration and lowers the number of so-called "GM noobs". There isn't really one area which is an actual problem to reach without gate anchors.

I'd actually recommend not adding too many static gate anchors, but rather, as has been suggested, tame the winds and add many more potions of flight - especially with the combat nerf to flight. There is nothing more depressing than when you wish to explore with a combat class and all the flight pots are hoarded.

I strongly advocate a gate anchor spell, castable on movable items, with a slight concentration cost. It would mean someone would actually have to go to the place, but not have to go the distance twice. Would work better than using people since items can't just be summoned (so if you want to put the anchor in front of a dragon, you actually have to go find it and get it). It'd also open up a lot of fun new possibilities for pk without aggravating people by summoning npcs away :P

I get it, Dulrik, you don't like the most useful thing about summon and gate. Unless you add some kind of 'gate anchor' spell to the mud soon though, this is not going to be a popular change at all.

Also, it's completely unrealistic, the irony of which amuses me endlessly.

Not picking on Jardek personally, but it -is- realistic.

They recalled!

In my opinion also, this is a nice change. When I was a new character, I always thought it was cool to travel from cities to the higher-level areas in the game. It was much cooler than just gating to Britta the ticket taker (wtf?) who was for whatever arbitrary reason hanging out at a portal to the Outer Planes.

Is it realistic that the same shopkeepers have been at those shops since the muds inception in 1996? That makes them what? 1000 years old? Is it realistic that they still don't leave when their shop is closed, why the hell do they close if they don't go home?! Is it realistic that if they are resurrected 'By the Gods' regardless of how many times they are killed?

Their are plenty of things in this game that aren't realistic because its a fantasy setting. There are a lot of other 'realism' changes I would like to see that don't make certain abilities less useful in the process.

They recalled directly to their shop? Please, provide me with such an ability.

That would require player-run shops to be implemented first, sorry.

I clearly meant that I wanted the ability to recall to a room of my choice, rather than the portal stones.

Don't be stupid. This is a direct change and a result of people not being able to use the tools given to them, properly. It is not something with a genuinely great impact on the game, but one that was imposed out of necessity because people found it appropriate to twink things to a degree that was found unacceptable. Not only by the IMMs, but by the majority of the players aswell,

I, for one, back up this change fully.

I am not sure about the new effect. Did he stop all named NPCs from being summoned? Or key ones?
