I told the newbie to leave a post on the astral boards TO them.

Still. I'm not the sort of person to ask for a HF flag.

Thanks.

Just the sort to whine and attempt to call people out in public forum. Got it.

While I agree that it wasn't cool to bring this public, and he should have stayed in the Aludra forum or the noteboards IC, I think I understand what he means by not asking for the flag.

Is it that you'd feel sort of like a jerk for asking for it simply based on activity, and you feel that you should prove yourself rp-wise to be someone worthy of it, and therefore will be offered the flag? That's the way I used to feel, but you've got to realize that the F3 flag isn't purely IC. Yes, it requires a lot of RP, and you should have a decent amount of skill and charisma for the RP you'll have to do, but that's not all it's based on.

Don't be afraid to ask for a flag. Even if you're turned down, nobody's going to think any less of you. They're not going to be like, "What? Make this idiot F3? WTF is this kid thinking?" If anything, the IMM you ask simply won't respond to your request, and if by some miracle they do, I'm sure they'll be totally polite about it.

If they dont have enough hrs in, then the next monthly reboot they will lose it.

It's nowhere near close to that level of dire.

Guilt trip, ouch. Way to flame.

I apologise for "whining." I haven't seen you guys on in a long while so I was worried becuase I know we lost a few because they couldn't find you.

Sorry. Shoulda put it on Aludra, my mistake.

Nothing wrong with bringing it to someone's attention if you're losing followers because of it. Yeah, it might not have been the 'best' thread/section for it but at least the guy (gal?) was apologetic for the mistake and is trying to do the right thing for the faith. :P

In my opinion, if your HFs are out because of being sick or injured and can't play, they should give up their flags to someone else who is on. I'm might sound like an [REDACTED] for saying this, but unless its some freak thing that you can't control, like a car accident, then you should step down. It's not fair to the other people who play this game to have to sit and wait because of your RL issues.

Pass your flag to someone else if you have a RL issue to tend to, no where does it say you can't get it back when your business is taken care of. This game isn't the type of game that just stays idle because you are not playing, other people are involved and doing things still while you are gone.

I also feel its poor sport to just wait for the monthly reboot to take your HF flag away. You should have at least enough respect for your fellow players to RP out the changing of the flag, or if that can't be done to take care of giving it to the next person in line.

I propose that everyone asks for a flag if they're interested. Don't let some other leader be the road block which keeps your character from doing the things needed. I'm sure if they are no longer interested in leading they'll step down or eventually just lose the flag to hours. I've stated a few times recently that two leaders is rarely enough. In ideal situations that may be the case, but I'd say ideal is 1 in 10. Making a big display about it is basically taking a pot shot at someone. There's no need for wide open public discussion.
