With all of the recent changes in the last few months, being a spellcaster is awesome.

It's definitely nice not to (as quickly) get run over by warriors, but at the same time, wimping the kama doesn't sit well with me. Swashies were already a tough class to be great, and now they're probably a lot tougher... Can't say for sure, of course, since I haven't rolled one yet.

Yeah, I don't play a swashie, but I've been trying to figure out what they're supposed to use now.

Even before the whimping no-dachi was practically on par with Khopesh.

My objection is just that I don't think this is a healthy way to solve problems.

Swashbuckler should not be able to dual wield flamberge/no-dachi/Landy. That is why no-dachi should be two hand only. The builders are just using D's silence to make a cool subtype for those bitching.

Supposed to be two, it is early.

Man, you really are a [REDACTED], aren't you? One-handed no-dachis were around a long time before Dulrik just wimped weapons like 10 days ago. I didn't see anyone whining about weapons before then(except to wimp them).

Also, you phrased your whole comment completely wrong, unless you just had a complete 180 degree turn in opinion and all of a sudden want EVERY no-dachi to be one-handed. :drunk:

Objection!

...That aside,

Nerfing stuff is really not the best way of solving problems - re-evaluating all weapons and building them from the start with a point system is.
That doesn't mean that the coders have the time or will for this whole process, however. Nerfbatting powerful weapons right now is probably only going to shift power to other weapons for a time, which will screw mercs that have speced for now, but the next mercs will know the hang of it, and so on.

I used to like how it was that a good weapon was a cool looking one, regardless of type. So long as it was high enough level, it was great, and there was a good supply of those. Now its like looking for the 1 needle in a haystack along with every other melee class, while the other cool weapons, like the longsword of holy power, are neglected.

I would rather see flails and the like get BUFFED so they'd be usable, rather than everything get dropped down to flail stats in an effort to make flails and the like usable. This process is completely [REDACTED]. Certain weapons needed to be toned down a couple notches, and Dulrik just decided to completely destroy them.

Why the [REDACTED] is the answer to everything for Dulrik to wimp stuff? Like the weapon subtypes. Omgz, instead of making the completely [REDACTED] useless weapons better, let's just make the ones that are actually worth using...not worth using, then maybe people will start using [REDACTED] like polearms and flails and stuff! God damn.

The answer to this question could very well be outside the realm of rational understanding.

For these two and anyone else who apparently are unable to comprehend the last thread on this subject: for every weapon that was nerfed, there were far more that were improved. Because I get so tired of idiots that spout misinformation and I can provide numbers that won't affect any real knowledge of gameplay, here we go:

Weapon subtypes buffed: 24
Weapon subtypes nerfed: 7
Weapon subtypes with mixed nerfs/buffs: 4

Number of emails I have received from players complaining about their favorite subtype being nerfed too far: 0

I'm more than willing to be reasonable about things, but folks would far prefer to put on a public show of moaning and wailing rather than do anything useful like entering into a constructive dialog about a problem.
