Not hardcoded enough then. Unless you should be able to avoid taunt in the ways I mentioned in my first post(and more - for once, put your brain to work and think a bit).

Taunt works something like this thread.

Why?

Well, you guys keep taunting DA and he keeps replying to each post knowing that he probably shouldn't, yet he still does it because that's how taunt works.

Taunt requires an insult. I doubt they'd manage that really. :P

Taunt works in mysterious ways, it does not always require an insult.

An example... I taunted you and you replied. Ha!

Taunt does not necessarily require an insult but it does cause a desire in the tauntee to react negatively toward the taunter. If you are taunted successfully, you will not even attempt to leave without showing your taunter a thing or three. So to answer your question, once you have taunt in your affect list, any twink way to get out of it should be buglogged and the usage of such bug should be a cursable offense.

So spamming casted SS on yourself, or spamming heal as a healer(without combat casting to attack the swashie at all for the duration of taunt - that's the point), or turning ethereal to avoid hurting(and geting hurt) the taunter, all these are bugs, right?

If so there should be code changes and all these should be fixed. There are far too many occassions in which I can prove that taunt is not working code wise as intended.

Although I tend to agree, I am not 100% sure. I mean, this way a berserked barbarian or anyone with frenzy should be prohibited from fleeing/recalling too. Not so sure about the extent of this thing.

P.S. This was meant as response to P40's post, DA posted before I pressed the Submit button.

I played a mud where berserk prevented any fleeing. It made sense to me. If you're in a rage, why would you ever tuck tail?

Although I agree with you RP wise, we would drown in the vast oceans of tears of the playerbase if something like that was implemented here.

I can see spamming one of the healing spells and maintaining the combat connection. You are actually staying there in combat and making no attempt to get out of it. If you're a healer all alone, chances are you'll have a pet in front of you. You'll show your taunter a thing or three by keeping yourself and your pet healthy as your gopher chews its way into the taunter's nether regions. It's what healers do. And I really don't see what the issue is with this particular example. Taunt causes the taunter to get the initiated combat flag and not the tauntee, so self-defense can be claimed during the combat.
