Although I agree with you RP wise, we would drown in the vast oceans of tears of the playerbase if something like that was implemented here.

I'm sure the Crimea River would overflow its banks for a while during that rainy season but the waters would still recede.

Pushing40, you don't show the taunter a thing or three if you are not actually hurting him(be it going all defensive yourself, or simply going ethereal to avoid the taunter - exact opposite to the spirit of taunt itself).

So anyone who does that actually exploits a bug in the code, right? If so, the code must be fixed.

And Yoru, we'd overflow if the taunt code wasn't so [REDACTED] in the first place. So let's actually make taunt working as it's supposed to work(aka be totally imba) and then let's wimp it from the beginning. :P

Lolth, take the advice that I gave to alvarro, and unless you have anything constructive to say to this thread, stay out of it please.

Unless the facepalm is a valid comment because you consider reciting etherealform a decent tactic against taunt. If so, we disagree to the basics of the RP behind said skill.

My comment was 100% valid and accurate, actually. I was not-so-subtly advising people to refrain from encouraging your whine. If etherealform were not an acceptable tactic out of taunt, I am sure the IMMs would've disabled it.

Why do you have to be such an attention [REDACTED]? If you are so concerned take your whole taunt argument to emails or PMs. It's probably the most effective way to get something changed.

I want to see what the rest of the playerbase thinks actually.

And I'm sure it's just an oversight of the imms that etherealform tactics are allowed to avoid taunt. After all you should have no desire to use etherealform in the first place, you want to fight the swashbuckler, not go into another plane where he can't hurt you and you can't hurt him. Isn't that the basic argument of all you crybabies to get other means out of taunt wimped anyway?

EDIT: I'm not whining. I play a character who can use quite a few of these tactics(ethereal devices, spam c heal etc) and I just want things to be correct in the game. Taunt code is not working properly and changes should happen so that there are no loopholes such as these out of taunt. I'm actually encouraging the buff of a skill that I have no access to(and I get hurt from it actually - it's one of the few things that can kill me).

I'd say etherealness to avoid taunt is a tactic, just as deafening yourself to avoid hearing a bard's song is.

The link is a scene in which Darth Vader gets taunted. Now, he doesn't go off punching the guy, screaming, shouting, cursing. He just shows him the power of the dark side i.e. showing the taunter a thing or three Sith style.

He is actually casting an offensive spell to attack him and kill him, at least that's what I see in that scene SK wise.

He is not trying to avoid him either by turning himself ethereal, or spam casting stone skin for example or any other defensive buff. He is taunted and he goes on the offensive.

And Erevan, if etherealness to avoid taunt is a tactic, then taunt is not what it seems after all. If you can go to another plane to avoid the swashie while taunted at will, why can't you just quaff a simple potion of WoR and get out and avoid the swashie as well?

He's using his abilities to kill the guy, just like you'd be trying to do. Besides, just cause you're on the offensive doesn't mean you're neglecting your own safety completely, you're just more reckless than usual.
