Some leaders just suck and drive their cabals down in player numbers. It's true.

Containers aren't de-hoarded due to a limitation of the character saving system. If I deleted your container, you'd also lose all the equipment that is inside it. This isn't an easy fix.

1. Can we confirm that it's just the container itself that isn't dehoarded? Items in any and all containers (and nested containers) are still checked for dehoarding, right?

2. Losing a container due to thieves should be enabled; I don't see the problem in doing so. Perhaps containers could have their level artificially dropped so they're not as likely, but they shouldn't be 100% immune.

3. The impact of losing all the items in a container is directly proportional to how much of a hoarder that person is. Moreso with characters that carry multiple containers.

4. About the only olive branch I'd offer would be to move any gold in a container into the bank or inventory. If that's in the same realm as 'not an easy fix' then leave it as an added risk.

@syn and muktar concerning the leadership flags:

Aneira had a good point. Leaders leave the flags and none takes them. The other point is that sometimes we don't want the people who didn't have enough hours for a month to lose their flags forever. I've been in both sides of this some times. So let me remind or inform you of a few cases (Muktar especially).

When you had Caladian and I had Aelraen you were logging for a period once in a blue moon. Not only I didn't want you to lose the flag because I was a newb and not ready to lead, but I liked Caladian as a leader too.

When Aneira had to be absent she didn't lose the flag. For both of the above reasons I guess. Not only the members of the Hand like the stinky gnome nor they wanted the "burden". Same with Treno.

I once gave (not lost) my flag and I had the kd telling me I will never going to get it ever again, without him caring that I was the only active guardian and there were about 10 paladins/fists/taslamarans/druids outlawed in Ayamao for 3 months irl.

What I want to say is that I'm glad the imms are more lenient now with the flags. I even think that the hour limits were changed judging from characters who still have the flags. And that if someone has a problem and wants a flag, he should talk to the kd (if he thinks that something is going wrong) and the leader himself telling him that he wants to lead. I think the chances are that he gets it soon. No need to make the hour limits more strict.

If having what you need is having half the the eq in the game, then you are hoarding. If it is basically only the stuff that you are wearing, then you are not hoarding.

This is incorrect. You are incorrect. If I only have a suit and a few choice items, and I log on for a couple of hours every month just to keep them, I am hoarding.

I agree. If you see that your RL takes you away from the game, simply dehoard.

People should just be courteous and hand out their kit if they know they are going to be inactive. People can't expect other people to be kind and courteous if they are not willing to be that themselves.

The real issue for me with hoarding isn't the people who gather loot and don't log on because eventually the system will catch up to them, though it's not perfect. The issue I have is with people who shrink down 4 sets of gear to tiny and hoard it away in their bags, and don't use it, specifically people who hoard gear that they can't even use themselves. I couldn't tell you how many sorcs that hoard multiple sets of mithril, or adamantite that used to tick me off because they would sit in their cabal or tribunal HQ so no one could get to them, or simply log out when the presure was on.

The people who hoard items they can't use, who are online constantly, are just as bad as the people who don't log on.
