What we should do is just take the you have became familiar, back of the hand, and you need to get out and explore away.

And just make it so you get the you recently discovered this area exp and it never changes from that like it used to be.

That would make leveling much less stressful

I don't think that is the answer. The familiarity system has done a good job of getting people to explore.

I think the xp rate is fine, just the rate at which one finds companions is what sucks. Since ooc contact is frowned upon, there needs to be some way ic to gather up together and go out adventuring together when religion/politics don't already bring you together.

I would also love it if we could hire henchmen as well.

A way to find companions via a command would be great--

Or create camp spots in areas that offer increased regeneration, which would make find people in areas easier--at least, if they wanted to be found.

Or, we could just enter areas yelling. "IS ANYONE HERE? I AM AN EVIL NECROMANCER TRAINING IN TASLAMAR LOOKING FOR A MEATSHIELD K THX"

Leveling is not any more difficult than it used to be. Grinding is more difficult.

Agreed. So what?

There are other games that have advanced with the times. They've found ways to make levelling more fun (usually with graphics and positioning), faster, or both. So why should people waste their leisure time on SK's treadmill?

SK does have a great RP environment compared to other games. But when a good deal of the action is limited to high-level players only, it's asking a lot of new players or returning players to stick around that long.

Either the levelling process needs to improve, or there needs to be a lot more focus on getting lowbies involved in RP.

My character should have heard at least the name of the gm once or twice somewhere.

There is also a group of "players" that even if the gming required 10 minutes, they would complain to Dulrik to make it 5.

Didn't you hear that Sklz?

Or the fact that people will spam create/delete chars every two weeks? As it was happening about 3 years ago, when you could hit GM in 15-20 hours.

Yeah, it was terrible, we had 80 people playing the game at a time :P

Just because you boost xp it doesn't mean people are not going to take a break from leveling from time to time to RP. Only the true powerlevelers wouldn't stop to RP, and it's not like they stop now either way.

How many of them were GMs anyway? I think people were playing, but they didn't bother with levels back then.

I'll give you a simple example. Allikat's past chars were never GMs. Her Yenko hellions were like mentor or so, and her paladins after them were not GM either.

On the other hand look now, Allikat's chars can easily hit GM today.

Levelling today is easier than what it used to be.

PS: Beat that argument. :P

I can easily defeat that argument.

Allikat's characters not reaching GM had nothing to do with the difficulty of reaching GM, and everything to do with getting caught mudsexx0ring you and others and then imploding.

Also, you had the majority of people being GM and a lesser number floating in the Master/Champion zone, mostly those in classes that didn't need to be GM for any tangible benefit. It also didn't matter anywhere near as much, like I said before you saw a lot more characters PK/RP active at a lower level for a multitude of different reasons.

So while the percentage of GMs is higher now, it's only because of the extremely low number of overall players in comparison.

I'm sure allikat mudsexed your chars more than mine.

Apart from that, wtf are you talking about? There are far more many reasons nowadays to be active in PK and all from level 40, not needing to GM. Unless you are not aware, thieves ignore the last 10 levels of enchantments on items, so you can grab a lvl 40 weapon, fade it 10 times until you make it +12/+12 and still be able to keep it(while it is GM lvl now).

Scouts also get more benefits at lower levels than they used to(skins, herbs etc).

Can you explain to me again why it didn't matter anywhere near as much? I think it mattered way more than today. :o
