Right,

in my opinion, this is one of the principal problems of the early game. Most classes get endurance way, way too late - although I haven't yet checked whether that rectifies the situation.

As it is now, I am regaining 9% PE, full on food/water and sleeping, pr. tick. This is a jman (5) human with max con. As a combat class, that is approximately the same as I spend fighting a single NPC (which deals roughly 5-8% damage to me). Mind you, this is without utilizing combat skills what so ever.

Why should it be so that you spend more movement when it is needed for other things than fighting, too - and when you regenerate it infinitely slower.

Not to mention the ridiculously low PE pool of very low level characters.

My suggestion is to scale the cost of combat skills, as it is now only your movement go up, and they are ridiculously costly for lowbies. Making it a stupid choice to actually use your skills in leveling doesn't exactly make leveling more fun.

Just my five cents, it's just an annoyance I keep coming back to.

Konge.

I've found myself that using trip/dirt kick/bash/kick and any other combat skill that drains PE is not viable until around master or if your sole survival depends on it, like bashing the odd caster NPC that aggro's you by accident.

Prediction: Dulrik's answer will be to train PE.

I've never trained PE, so I don't know how much it helps. I do know that I never use combat skills while leveling unless I have someone with me who can refresh me.

That's the way to level up your melee char. Forget tactics, just kill the darn thing and rest till it gets killed, then move on.

I must be horribly misunderstanding. How do you rest/relax while you kill a NPC?

I think he means you, the player, relax. Not your character. So.. stare at the screen until you're done killing that NPC (or distract yourself otherwise, such as reading the forums).

I doubt he would tell anybody to train PE. It's just common knowledge that nobody sane would ever do that.

I know one thing that could help. You could train your PE.

Same underlying reason for posting.
