According to "help xp", different race/class combinations require different amounts of xp to level. Just testing around, this seems to be the case...

Does anyone know which race/class combos need the least amount of xp per level? Thanks again.

Your "natural" charisma, that is, the charisma you have without mods from equipment, greatly affects your xp gain. Thus an elf, with a racial maximum of 24 charisma would be fastest in that regard. However, since xp is calculated from how much damage you do to NPCs (at least I hope everyone agrees this is the fastest way to get xp) you need to balance that out with how fast any class / race combo can deal damage, or to how many foes at the same time.

Personally, the class/race combo I have leveled fastest is an elf bard, elf max charisma, added with the ability to damage several NPCs through chords... Apart from that, any damage heavy melee class with max cha levels reasonably fast.

JVJ is right, but missed something too. If I remember correctly, D stated that the amount of experience required for a level is also based off the number of years the race can live. Longer lived races will level slower than shorter lived races.

I'm just not sure if, for instance, a elf with max charisma is enough to match the leveling speed of a giant or centaur with max charisma.

the fastest character i've leveled is a griffion barb, not to mention cheapest too.

almost no need for armor or most items, butch so no food cost after a while, and you don't need to buy weapons bc you can just use there claws.

there are some drawbacks, considering they are short lived and all, but every cha i've rolled as a griffon has had very nice stats.

but i suck anyways so i'm prolly wrong

Elf sorc is the fastest hands down.

Fastest I've ever leveled to GM was a gnome warlock.

The fastest I've ever hit mentor with was a gnome sorceror.
