Ok, well.. trying my hand at a bard, and since all of their songs take ME, why dont they have a meditation or trance available to them - even at a higher level? Just curious, you would think with their high CHA and the INT needed, that at least meditation would pop up to help them regenerate faster when sleeping? Or am I way off here, and they are already fine and I need to suck it up....newbie alert yes yes I know.... teach the nooblette... I am listening!

This has been hashed out for a long time. Some think that it would make bards overpowered.

Overpowered? lol

It will only help with the crappy regen.

Give bards meditation.

Resolve the issue with persuade, meditation would make them OP. Really it would.

You get the right priest and two bards and well, you could go nonstop.

Meditation would be overpowered for bards because it has a constant chance of increasing ME regen, even when not resting.

What they SHOULD get, however, is Trance (bypassing Meditation), which only has an effect when resting/sleeping.

You could still sit and sing and get mana regen.

You can do that now; that's not the point. The point is, especially with some of the more ME-intensive songs, you can sing them for a few battles, then have to spend ten or more minutes of downtime in sleeping trying to regen ME at unassisted rates.

Meditation would be too powerful given it's ability to fire when not resting, but Trance would fit just fine and solve the only problem that exists for bard regen rates: A boost to mana regen when resting/sleeping.

EDIT: However, as has already been stated in this thread, this has been beaten to death, revived, then beaten to death again, revived, and beaten to death yet again. Likely, it will happen again before too long as well.

If it was going to be changed, it would have been. As I recall, on the last 12+ page thread talking about this, Dulrik once again refused to even comment despite the numerous and well-reasoned arguments in favor or the numerous "ZOMFG IT WAS B OP!!!11" posts.

If somebody has already said what I was going to say, I don't waste my time.
