So why did I get extra time if I had enough to pay for partial? I think thats bugged...

How much was in your bank account?

None, I had just got all I had out to do that much. :/

Not 100% on this but I think it is coded to take from your bank account, not from your inventory.

Well thats [REDACTED]. Two crimes and have an obsidian and still cant even pay for the crimes.

And 6 days...for two crimes. Thats absurd. The old system was way better...This is stupid.

Read the crime more carefully. The penalty was not a fine, it was confiscation of personal property. That means items not money, so you could have had 100 obsidian and it wouldn't have mattered. Whatever items you might have been holding must not have been worth much for a character of your status. At any rate, six days in jail is not what it used to be. You can easily serve that by logging off for the night in jail.

PS. I missed that there was a bank levy, but as you said, you took all the money out of the bank, so that actually caused more jail time.

You are still only guaranteed 2 days for 2 crimes. I know that was a rhetorical question, but I have an answer for you anyway. You obviously did have some money, so the correct thing to do would be to buy the best things you can find at some shops before turning yourself in.

Everyone needs to realize that since the system is new, it WILL take some time to get adjust to the new realities.

Whether you need a full suit depends on how many crimes for which you are planning to serve time. Minor confiscation is one item, major confiscation is three items. It has to be usable gear: armor, weapons, treasure, or expendable magic items; not food, trash or containers. You don't HAVE to go gear up with the best stuff either - items below your status will get you at least partial credit for your sentence.

But it's not "stupid" - it's just different. You'll get used to it.

It's better than losing an entire kit or all your money for a crime.

It would be better if it didnt triple your time for having nothing. :/

I spent over 5 hrs total in jail today because of the new [REDACTED] system.

And four hours yesterday.

And like all together I had 5 crimes? 2 in exile and 3 in the north

What defines the quality of your item? Is that the actual coin value of each item, or the identify quality like near-god like and superior? Could I enchant a set of newbie equipment to near-god like quality and get away with a lesser sentence?
