That's absolutely not true. Items that you loot from a shopkeeper's body rot. Items bought from shops do not rot.

Cloak of wind and fire death rots. Its happened to me a few times recently.

I both looked at the code and sold/bought a cloak of wind and fire. I saw nothing that added a timer or death rot flag. Send me log snippets showing the entire process. Maybe something else is going on.

It's happened to me before, and is why I have never bought elite things from shops even if the items have been sold at a shop before.

Maybe the item just happened to be death rot and you died?

There is at least one scenario which would cause what happened to Ardith. Before, if you looted a shopkeeper of their items, that flagged the items for rotting and prevented them from being sold again. If someone tried this and found out they couldn't sell it again, they may have given it to the shop owner or left it on the ground to be picked up. Then the shop owner lists it in their inventory, someone comes along and buys the item but it's already flagged to rot. That used to happen to me on occasion.

If that was the problem, it shouldn't be possible anymore. These days no physical items should remain after killing a shopkeeper.

Dulrik, what have you decided regarding the changes about animate dead, dispel magic etc as mentioned previously in this thread?
