Pretty sure my commitment is evident from character to character.

I'm going to make this very short.

New person joins game.
New person wants to make a character.
New person logs on and sets down their name.
New person is confronted with an alignment choice. "But I want to play an sprite! What is a sprite?!"
New person chooses Principled. Sprite is not there.
New person must then remake until they find the appropriate alignment to play the race they want to.
Now repeat the same for finding the class you want, or just assume that's all the classes that race can play instead of alignment requirements.

It'd be nice if you either changed it back to Race -> Class -> Alignment, or added a list of what can be what on the forum.
I didn't even know Minotaur existed until someone told me.

How about having a portal to go back to the last set of options?

But then you'd have a broken character. Portals do things that aren't reversible.

Our highest priority should be on making sure people think about and pick the alignment they want to play first. I've heard many sad stories over the years about people who, when confronted with their actions being in conflict with their alignment, gave the excuse: "They didn't have the alignment I wanted at creation."

This way there are no excuses about role-playing your character. You explicitly choose one when they are all available. And there is no stronger statement we can make about the value we place on role playing then by having it be the first important decision you make about your character.

If that is the case, then please update the alignment helpfiles on races that are allowed to select the alignment, then update the race helpfiles to include the classes that the race can choose. Therefore, when someone selects

help scrupulous

They get at the bottom:

Following races are allowed: griffon, sprite, ...
Following races not allowed: deep elf

Then they type

help sprite

they get:

Following classes allowed to sprites: swashbucklers, bards, ...
Following classes not available to sprites: clerics, paladins, ...

As it is right now, it is a crapshoot to get what you want.

Every race help file should already list the disallowed alignments.

That is not what I asked and since in the hall of creation, they get alignment first, why would they be looking at races? Newbs are going to type help scrupulous long before help sprite.

Or you could just make a sticky saying what alignments can be what race, and what alignment/race can be what class instead of forcing people to guess. The word "unintuitive" comes to mind, not "roleplay-oriented".

Race has at least as much importance in how you roleplay your character as alignment does, you know.
