Maybe this is asking too much here, but, is it that freaking hard to delete and remake when you notice you can't do said character combination? I mean honestly, how lazy are we?

It's not so much being lazy as it is not needing to be a problem in the first place. It could easily be fixed by someone compiling a list and putting in the forum for easy access rather than every single person needing trial and error (and most likely missing combinations entirely) to make a character.

I think its fine how it is and would rather see immortal work go towards something worth while.

If its not broken, dont fix it.

Actually, now that I think about it, nuts to the admins. *I* can fix it, and I'll do so tomorrow. It's not like it's particularly difficult, just time consuming.

Or you could just make a sticky saying what alignments can be what race, and what alignment/race can be what class instead of forcing people to guess. The word "unintuitive" comes to mind, not "roleplay-oriented".

Race has at least as much importance in how you roleplay your character as alignment does, you know.

The reason why I want it in the in game help files is that when you are in the game chances a newb will look at the ingame helpfiles and not the boards.

Does such a thing as a race/class chart exist in the help files?
If not, why not just add it? (rows of races, columns of classes, X to mark which combinations are possible). Similarly, a chart to clarify the race/alignments as well. I see these as simple tools to facilitate starting the game with, especially for lesser experienced players of the game.

There doesn't seem to reason this knowledge is not readily available, and it sounds like the reason any change is based on this alone. I'd leave the halls alone, and clarify the help files.

I think I've got it, though it may not be clear to the newer players.

Going by race, you've listed all the possibilities, but if there are limitations by class within alignment, you've indicated.

Thanks for the work Parnys. I'll fiddle around after hours and see if I can kick around a couple of functional tables.

Chart is done, but attempts at forum posting look hideous.

If someone has a webpage, I can send it and then we can get a link posted.

If I need to convert it over to ASCI for inclusion into the game help files themselves, that will take me more time, but the chart fits onto a screen/ page nicely.
