I sense a lot of the making up of the crap in this thread. Who says that herbs are natural, and who says that shaman spells are any more or less magical than priest or even sorceror spells? Is an herb that makes you invisible not magical? That seems quite magical to me.

I'm half and half on this. I agree with you that herbs are magical and thus MR should be applied and I would say shaman spells are magical, but that's the only thing shaman and sorcerers/priests spells have in common.

IMO shamans are not only the spiritual cornerstone of tribes but also are highly influential figures in their community and highly respected. I don't think anyone who practices a certain religion or belief would ever spit in the face of their priest/spiritual leader for them blessing them for the members share the same beliefs as their leader.

I would think there's a big difference between divine gifts from spirit gifts. I'll like to see what Dulriks answer to my question below is.

but just make sure that you aren't all taking the general belief of barbarians' as specified in the helpfile as the gospel truth.

What's wrong with that? If that's the case I can make a barbarian who has no problem with magic...

I'm not picking on you Edoras, you just had the best arguments against this in the thread. But I believe there was a reason why the game was created with these two classes so tightly knitted together. If barbarians distanced themselves from all magic then Raise Dead is worthless and they could never be brought back.

Dulrik, could you explain then what you meant by this?

Quote:
Most barbarians view magic as a weakness and disapprove of its use. They do, however, have a special bond with shamans and will always accept the use of their spirit-gifted powers.

I’m going to guess more people have a problem with a barb MR’d out the [REDACTED] but also has buffs. I haven’t tested it out but it has been a general belief that barbs were the weakest melee class out there (before these changes). Let the sorcs and necros have their mass controllable armies, let barbs play with shamans!

I strongly disagree.

Bet if you looked through some older posts you'd find the same sentiment.

I think that barbs and mercs have been pretty well balanced since the changes to 'prone'. Before the changes, mercs were clearly stronger. After them, I personally considered barbs to be the stronger of the two.

That could be since it has been a while since I've played. Still, I doubt allowing shaman spells to bypass OR have a greater chance to negate a barb's MR would be overpowered.

So hey, btw, barbarians have a new skill called suppression. You can read all about it by checking out the help file in the game.

This skill can only be useful if the barbarian goes into a DBZ style constipation stance and yells at the top of his lungs while the veins in his forehead bulge out.
