The thing is, I think there's a cap on non-combat XP per day. I don't know what it is, but I doubt you could get a level from it in one go. I'm not sure if that applies to healing, or just to stuff like rift/enchant armor/enchant weapon.

Is this correct?

There is a cap on non-combat exp gained. Enchant, scribe, brew, rift, gate, etc all apply to this cap.

Healing is a slightly different matter. It used to be that it was all the same cap, but a number of months ago in a code update (around the same time as throwing code was put in), healing other PCs in your party was given roughly three times the normal non-combat cap as other non-combat spells cast. But it only applies to healing other PCs in your group.

Yeah, there's a cap. Not sure exactly what it is or when it resets, but I think that it caps at around a tick or two.

Is resurrection considered healing, or is it subject to the cap as well?

Ah, never mind. There's no way someone you're resurrecting can be in your party. Duh.

Obviously I don't know, but I'm suspecting that this cap is in place in order to prevent priests/sorcerors from isolating themselves somewhere and just spamming the spells over and over in order to GM fairly quickly without risk. If they could, that would be pretty unbalancing and unfair, at least as I see it.

I don't personally have a problem with it. I just wasn't aware of it.

Thanks to those who provided the information!

Look at xorvithien, he needs isolation.

I think (and again, I could be wrong) that the immstaff would prefer to encourage interaction between players, not isolation.

Having roleplayed a bit with Xorv I would say offhand the last thing he needs is isolation. He needs parties!

Priests aren't screwed in leveling.
