Dulrik. Nobody SELLS storebought stuff...back to a store. (Does that even make sense?) So prices are only ever going to GO UP.

I tried to explain that to him once, but like many people with a vision they can't see beyond that vision, hence the reason it takes so long to repair broken [REDACTED].

Yeah, especially when it comes to consumables. When you buy a consumable it will either be used or taken. Consumables will never be sold back to stores.

[edit]

Consumables also include ammunition, since they are basically consumed on use.

You folks lack vision because you can only see the way things are now, not what they could be in the future. For example, if item prices continue to go up, but you can create them yourself out of commodities that are lower priced, you then have motivation to sell them to the store for a profit. Unfortunately, the future can only come one step at a time, not all of which make sense when taken in isolation.

I have commented this before, and I don't want to beat a dead centaur, but I really think consumables like vials, blank scrolls, food, arrows and probably even some low-level scrolls and potions ought to be excepted from the economic system as it currently works.

These are items that have a fairly consistent high demand and a relatively easy means of supply. So it makes no sense that their prices would be driven up, given that other suppliers would logically (in real life) spring up to undercut the prices of the original, high-priced shop.

But as I said, it's been discussed before, and I'm sure Dulrik has considered this and will change it or not as he sees fit.

(edit) Muktar, I didn't see your post, but I agree with it! (/edit)

Then instead of inserting broken and unreasonable bits, compile the whole thing and impliment it.

Breaking a large software system into more easily digestible pieces that can be iterated on is how real software development happens. Whether or not a piece is broken or unreasonable is simply your opinion.

PS. Feel free to fund me with millions of dollars, and I will be in a better position to provide you with entire tested expansions at one time.

You have a test server, employu the twinks to use the test serve and test the whole thing at one time.

You make the game a chore and it limits the fun, so while you are testing you are chasing people away.

As it is people are not going to resell food, so all the decent food is 3 gold a pack, stupid.

I agree with Redman on this (along with a significant portion of the playerbase, I'd think).

I understand Dulrik's ultimate vision, but in this interim stage, prices are quite screwed up. Why, you ask?

1) Consummables will only ever go up in price (not only WOULD you not sell arrows back to the store, but I don't even think you can right now), and they go up drastically because they're purchased in such high volumes (e.g., scrolls, vials, arrows, etc.).
2) Items that really ARE valuable will never be sold, so they'll not see their street value increase (think scripted items of uber eliteness).
3)

You know, as I'm writing this I realize that if D wasn't convinced by the earlier comments along the same lines he's not going to be convinced by this one. Stopping now.

I think most people would like, for now until your entire vision is implemented, that consumables be exempted from the current system. For the most part people are not complaining about the non-consumables, paying multiple gold for food, can and will chase away newbies.
