I've never seen anyone get lost in Exile, be unable to find the bank, be unable to find weapons to train with, be unable to find your class trainers, have no idea where to level at any given point, have no understanding of what armor to wear for a certain class, have no idea what abilities actually will help them level, and I'll stop there for now.
I deal with these things all the time. I rp'd these problems with my current char (not knowing places I did OOCly). This is all besides the point though. None of this is at all on par with the subject at hand.
Let me put it this way, if any immortal really felt like it, they could watch you for a week and find some instance of multiplay to delete you for. Did you roleplay not knowing the layout of levelling zones too? How nitpicky do you really want to get?
No one is really questioning the deletion of the characters involved, it's the so-called permaban that is at question here. It matters very little in this instance, however next time it may be you or someone else that actually wants to play this game

I welcome anyone that wants to watch me, and if they find me using any info that I should not be using with my character, I invite them to delete my character and siteban me. I'll get as nitpickity as you want. I know well that there are people out there that don't cheat. There are just a bunch of people who do cheat, and admit it, like you, and these two under discusion (though in my opinion what they did is far worse than any of the things you listed. You do have to be 18 or have a guardian sign a release for you to play an 'adult' game.)
{edit} Not trying to be harsh, just discussing this. Also trying to make sure I am clear, which I am not sure yet that I am.
A couple of things.
There is no one that doesn't cheat as a player in some way, shape, or form. No one. It's the nature of the beast. It's like saying you're not a lawbreaker, but occasionaly you go 1mph over the speed limit, or cross the street outside a crosswalk. You're still a lawbreaker. That's the entire point here. Everyone cheats, however it's the discretion of the immortals on staff on what is worth enforcing and what isn't.
This game wasn't listed as an "adult" game until after those offenses, even though Welverin and his ilk had been around for a very long time. It's good to know that actually breaking the law(contributing to the delinquency of a minor) is less severe than a game rule in your mind.
As I said before, Dulrik's punishments are almost always going to be the most severe that you'll find so it's not exactly a surprise that sitebans were passed out, but it's not the first time someone has found something and abused it for xp. Firestorm's tavern comes to mind, the hole in the wall in N'Kashya, the archery butts, Owyran Volators, and more. The only real difference I see is that there were NPCs involved in these cases.
Does that make a difference? Sure it does. However, an escalating ban system that most PTP games have implemented would be much better. Leave all the piddly stuff the same, make a penalty volcano for repeat offenders/egregious offenders.
