I don't think leveling is as hard as people make it out to be. I gmed Ivas in 96 hours I think it was. I know that on of the GM mercs in the game today was GMed in 84 hours.

There has to be some kind of leveling scheme, I mean you can't just make a lvl 50 character. If you do that you might as well play a levelless mud and they do exist. Alot of vampire muds are like that.

Knock it the hell off, before you give the average player a 500 hour levelling curve.

Seriously, D's not doing it to slow down the people who RP and develop their characters over the course of training. He's trying to curb THIS crap.

In response to Salandrin:

I'll consistently punish any PROVABLE rules infraction that is brought to my attention. The problem with most of the instances of "rules infraction" that are whined about the loudest on these forums is that it is usually a case of "He said, She said".

In this situation, I had ironclad proof of rules violations. I honestly don't care if you think no one was "hurt" by this cheating. That's your opinion and I don't share it. Other people in this thread have agreed with me that it was a serious infraction. They were caught breaking the rules and they were punished for it. If you want to play the game and not have to worry about punishment, it's very simple - don't break the rules.

As for Thran and Mitch, they are still banned. If you can prove they are playing the game again, send me the 411 and I'll take care of it.

A few interesting things about this ban:

1. As someone else before me said: People are willing to cheat because leveling is ridiculous. Even though they risk severe punishment. How about making leveling easier?

2. Who did MrP really hurt by getting to GM this fast? The worst thing that could happen is that he started RP'ing with others much faster than if he had to level normally.

3. If D really knew the amount of cheating on this mud he would have to ban 75% of the playerbase.

Prove it, and he will, I think is what he said basically.

Also, I don't think that people are willing to cheat because levelling is ridiculous. I think people are just flat out willing to cheat. You said it yourself. 75%. Someone else was screaming 100%. I am sure all of those cheaters did not cheat because they could not level. -_-

If I could cheat to level, i'd probably do it myself also...But thats just me.

Leveling is rediculous, and makes me uninterested in playing much anymore.

I've played jivuke since last year sometime, and he is only Expert 1...Telling you how horrible it has impacted my 'want' to play.

Salandarin, You took the words out of my mouth on that last post.

Very true.

I've only had one GM, and it was much funner. No pressure to have to level, and just felt better and easier to rp without this on my shoulders.

If leveling a character is the #1 priority of a player, this may not be the game for you. Also, you don't need to be GM to 'start playing the game' or roleplaying. That begins as soon as you roll your character. Yes, the game is a pain to level at the higher levels. But the emphasis should not be on levels nor leveling, alone. I just wish there were more IC means to find some higher leveling grounds, and that there would be a few more smaller 'niches' if you will of places to find at higher level where you can yet explore with some element of danger and still gradually learn, vs. the need to wait for a party of 5+ just to get to a place to train.

Well leveling obviously isnt my biggest priority or Id be much higher level than expert.

The point was, its a mega pain and sucks that you have to spend so much time on it when you could be doing something better like exploring, rping, pking, or anything 'interesting' in the game...Which leveling in most peoples opinion isnt.

It sucks being low level because you cant explore anywhere that really requires fighting and also you are an easy target for the [REDACTED] who like to random kill anyone who looks at them wrong. So thats why its better to GM or at least be of high enough rank to explore / defend yourself.

As much as I love MrP and Icey, I'd be pretty bitter if someone got away with exploiting a bug to get (practically) free levels. I may be selfish, but I can't be the only one who feels that way. So for everyone spouting "no one cares about this, this is nothing compared to what people do every day": I care.
