In between starting the song, and the target falling asleep, the game informs that the target "looks drowsy"

What, if anything, does being drowsy affect?

More specifically it is a reasonable drop in accuracy and attack speed.
Songs of Sleep can turn the tide of battle easily.

The "drowsy" effect also affects casting time, increasing it by a small amount. It's not as much a difference as between stance neutral and defensive, but it can make a difference if your opponent is having a heal aimed at them and you just need an extra half-round of attacks to finish them off.
