I tended to do things a bit slower than you do as Ilyash. I think I died a weeeeeeeee bit less than you too, though.

Where's the fun in not dieing? :)

Also, 'in the log posted'? I never posted the log of me killing the guardians. And I -did- use etherealform.

What guards spawn in a single man raid?

That -is- a thing that should be fixed, but that's not relevant to the necromancer question but rather to CRS.

Guards spawn just fine in a single-man raid, the problem is that if there are more than just one defenders on, they won't, because the system considers the attacker as being "outnumbered". As Konrin said, that's also a matter that needs to be addressed.

Based on the idea someone stated in this thread of having animated dead be uncontrollable, I had an idea. What if a necromancer could only order the undead in their group? This would give you a lot of the limits of only having as many animates as group slots without being a hard restriction.

Hm, well while yes this would make people only use base animates most of the time it will a. nerf animate without any fixes to control (this is debatably bad) and b. Not fix the CRS issue because the inner guardian gas breaths bringing all of the wraiths into combat anyway.

I really have no issues with there being a limit to only ordering the wraiths in your groups, but I really would like to see something changed about control in terms of both int/mana cost and in terms of the actual strength of the controls as currently they...suck.

This is such a bad idea, on so many levels, especially since, knowing you, you'll just do this and do nothing else. This would be a nerf, not a balance.

EDIT: And yes, contrary to the policy you have displayed predominantly in the past, there is a significant difference between the terms "nerf" and "balance."

I could agree to this under the same circumstances as Konrin. Control undead would have to be tweaked, otherwise you'd only have 6 orderable wraiths. The rest would just auto attack maybe? Would they join combat due to charmed flag (someone assaulting their master?).

Personally, i prefer using controls to animates. It's much cooler imo to walk around with 1 death knight than 18 wraiths, but that's just me. It's a shame though because with one shot wonder vs undead that is BoG and the chance of HW cancelling / disrupting control undead or it's concentration, it's really not worth using it.

If you, as a necromancer, have two animates in front of you, you fail. That drops one of six to a pet/control, since you don't want to be bash fodder at the first half-round HW cast. So you have five orderable NPCs of any worth.

Now lets say you know there's an enemy rogue running around (and lets face it, with necros, if there's a rogue in the who list, there's an 80-90% chance it's an enemy rogue). So you have to set yourself in second rank. That drops you down to four orderable NPCs of any worth.

NPCs outside the group will assist only based on the fact that all undead assist other undead. This means absolutely dick all if you're going up against a group that includes a priest/paladin.

This is just one reason why the idea is the sort of idea that sits in a corner, drooling, as it spends all day trying to chew its own elbow.
