I was going to say this, but you beat me to it. This is exactly why I was so exacting on standards for the HQs, because I knew this would happen. And this particular difference isn't even a change in those standards.

I don't considering being able to make your HQ inaccessible unless the opposing force has control weather and can unscrew the weather faster than you can a petty difference.

Once again, this is a one way downside since the attacking force can't prevent the opposing force from coming to defend due to cabal gate.

If this is the direction you want to go with CRS, fine with me, however such advantages should have been ready to go for everyone.

~~~~~~~~~ one can look into the depths of the tube from which the lava
seems to have spilled. However, passage into the tube isn't possible
because of the narrow opening. It's partly cloudy, very hot, and very
windy.
Obvious exits: n e s w nw ne sw se volcano
This is the way into the volcano.

Crater of a Lava Tube
Sunlight streams into the entrance of the old lava tube reflecting and
refracting off the black obsidian which makes up the walls of this tunnel.
The passage way expands towards the exit and the obsidian appears to have
solidified in the form of waves as the magma cooled after the latest
eruption. Light seems to darken further down the shaft and shadows seem to
dance darkly reflected by the rock creating the feeling that one is being
watched. An eerie silence hangs in the air here, sending a chill through
the spine.
Obvious exits: d outside
A thick-maned lion exits out of the volcano.

Clearly not flying there, and able to enter the volcano can we just drop the whole fly and control weather argument now?

If killing the gate target would be a problem, make it a gateable stone or something to solve that QQ. All problems solved.

The 'cheap' part was that leaving the HQ required you to fly. Inexperienced pkers will not understand why this is op. I can explain it to them if they are confused.

I posted about that in leader forums and it was promptly changed. Whatev.

Just a note to Jurithiel about all HQs being away from the portal stones -

lolz, have you ever been to DRUID keep?! It's a hop, skip, jump and away from the stones! And you don't even have to keep 25 wraiths flying to get there :D

yeah to clarify we want diversity, but certainly not unique advantages that nobody else has -- Exile jail for example

and wow Demon..... so people who are trying to even get there have to take 25% hitpoints losses....?

If you stand in the lava like I did yes...But if you're quick no. I mean did I take more damage the second time I walked over it? No

If an HQ is on an island it should be moved to an area not far from shore so it can be swam to.

Keeping the gate target killed and using control weather to keep people from reaching the island is a far superior advantage then say walking straight into the front doors of Morea. If the gate target was a stone like someone else said instead of a NPC, I'd be ok with it.
