And sadly, from what I can tell, the use of the *socials* is what gets you PAR, not the thought of emotes or the time to do a good desc, or char concept. You wave, you smile, you wink, you clap, any of the socials will get you noticed - not many wish to wait for your one liner of non-social use.
I've had paragon several times on two different characters and I use simple emotes of my own creation. I rarely use the socials, since I find them limiting and often inappropriate. Of course, on my second paragon character I have quite a file of aliased emotes that could be considered my own version of "socials" just for her. But even then, I try to throw in as many simple-to-the-point emotes as possible to suit the situation.
Of course, especially on my second character, a good majority of my enlightenments came from immortals since the paragon flag was heavily centralized in the opposite end of the game from me, thus making paragon interactions rare.
The system isn't perfect, admittedly. But often there are at least several very well deserved paragons around.

As for the OP, I'd love to see more versatility with the emotive system, but there is a valid point that long emotes such as your examples would slow the game down way too much. SK is generally very fast paced. There's a certain art to displaying the mood and tone of your character in concrete and concise forms.
Though, I do get sick of the limited "Aneira does this and this" and "Aneira's stuff goes like this".
