You have an entire thread of people who think Halela played "scrupulous" just fine. You're wrong, Marfik. And this was a cheap, horrible thing to do to a player.

Personally from all my interactions she played an anarchist character, she called herself anarchistic avian, drank constantly, then wanted to fight. She did nothing in particular that struck me as the actions of a scrupulous character at least from all my interactions with the character.

Case in point. If I was the only person to think so, I wouldn't have acted. More importantly, the above poster is not the only person to express that kind of opinion. What they saw was what I saw, and that's where I felt the need to step in.

Decide to play a staff member or a mortal. Don't try to play both. Please let players sort out problems among players -> if she isn't acting like you believe a griffon should, let it be dealt with IC.

I understand the need to make a good name for yourself after you become active as an immortal, but don't be overzealous. The best immortals are the ones who recognize that the players are the ones that make this game, and without them - it would disappear.

More depressing - you are closing peoples afterlife threads because you don't like the debate in them? Jeeze. Hey ref -> You're blowing the game.

Great, now algon is going to create a character to do something about Marfik...and grief newbies along the way.

Why not instead of forcing an uninduction, or deletion of a character try to teach someone how to correct their mistakes? Blemish is in the game for a reason, use it as a teaching tool.

That was starting to get more into the territory of "hey guys we're right you're wrong let's prove it by ganking people IC okay" kind of deal. That kind of debate belongs in here instead:

The problem here lies when players decide not to sort out the problem at all. There's helpfiles to help you play within your alignment.

I'll admit that in my zeal of getting the job done (as I am mostly a results-oriented kind of person), I was a bit too harsh. However, like I've stated earlier, the door is still open for a scrupulous character playing within alignment to join the faith of Marfik.

I apologize to the player if I seemed a bit too rash: I was going pretty much based on the previous memory of the way things were handled concerning bending alignment and what would happen to a character that really wanted to jump alignments (you get made an NPC as players can't play non-standard race/class/alignment combinations). I am more than happy to work with that player if she'd like to return and play a scrupulous character of Marfik, and part of what happened ICly (which I will not disclose) was a reflection of a sort of second opportunity, if such were attempted.

Arguing in afterlife threads has happened for a decade. Locking them hasn't been the policy for years - what gives? We have profanity filters for a reason (a dumb reason, but a reason nonetheless).

Yeah, and should the imms be punishing necromancers in cabals/tribunals because they aren't betraying their friends like the helpfile says? Give me a break. Let players police themselves, and don't claim that we aren't doing it fast enough. If you want to correct something of this nature, make a character. I do not know the player or character involved, but I know very well the lust of an immortal to fix what they perceive as ills in the mud. Step back.

Weak apology -> "Sorry, I was just doing things the way they used to be done." Beyond that, I just stress that its extremely, extremely easy for staff members (not immortals, don't confuse the two) to throw around their power. It has happened time and time again in this mud, as well as in every other mud. Keep an extra close eye on yourself to not influence how the game is played, please.

I was on the bandwagon when it I thought it was a matter of "You are a griffon, get out of the Marfikian faith." I argued that she played a good Marfikian. Scrupulous versus anarchist? Not a clue.

Either the bandwagon was mislabeled, or it's the Nyquil. I'll step off now. Gilgon's going to overbalance it anyway, now that his opinion has jumped on.

Still seems harsh to me, but if she has the chance to correct things via RP...I have no big gripe.

There's a difference between arguing and what was going on in that thread. There's a thread for final strike arguments. I could just move all the final strike arguments from that thread to it.

I mostly go by this advice, but I'm not actually joking when I say I got nagged a bit on the issue by other players who were hoping for something to get done. "Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm sorry but if the Lighties can handle Amschel without QQing to the staff, something can be done ICly about Halela.
