I'm going to point out that Winter's quote does not reflect anywhere near max mr trains. Healing from resisted spells increases with the amount of mr a person has.

Also, the power and spell variety already DO factor into more healing than others. For instance, an FoD or heal will heal you much more than a fly or invis. So far the most I have seen healed is from a resisted holy word spell.

I'm aware of an admantium polearm that's hard to find, but not all that terribly hard to get. That said, I can see merit in more spears and polearms. Weapons useful in a charge do make some IC sense for griffons, and griffon barbs certainly aren't overpowered.

Good reach weapons are reasonable for priests and warlocks. Priests in particular have strength as a teachable stat, and griffon priests should be able to exploit it. What I believe happened is that a key energy flail had reach removed during weapons type reform. I think it is sensible to introduce energy polemaces, as long as they don't look like polemaces in their description. Energy weapons are inherently magical, after all, so they can more realistically fit a griffon. However, it's a bit silly that it's easier to find a griffon lowbie reach weapon than a humanoid one.

As for the 4xwristband idea, let's think about a griffon's form for a bit. The "ankle" joint of a cat is well up the leg. What we see as the back paw is the equivalent of the toes; you can see this especially when the cat sits. Strapping something above the paw sounds awfully unstable and uncomfortable.

I do like the idea of giving up item slots for additional powers. Belts make a ridiculous armor slot on a griffon. (Do attackers crawl under them just to hit their belt?) But the additional powers have to be good enough to compensate for lost enchants.

If you are talking about the same energy flail I'm thinking of, it's still in the game. I had one given to one of my griffon characters recently myself.
