Ok, I'm working with Cmud and trying to set up some buttons for some of my commonly used emotes since my ingame alias list is full. The issue that I have is when I set up a color code in the middle of a line to draw attention to a word and use $A at the end of the word I get an error in the complied code window saying:
Quote:
Error compiling script:
invalid local variable:A

Anyone know a way to fix this besides taking the color out? I could not find any place on any menu to set local variables.

Unfortunatly, I made a poll about 3 months ago asking if people had switched to cMud trying to figure out if I should switch also. Overwhelming people said "no" so I stuck with zMud. I can't help you with cMud. Sorry.

Alright. I could live without the color in the emotes, but it just adds that little extra.

Along these lines, is there any reason why we are limited to only saving 20 aliases? It is just a minor pain to have to open different text files for my notes, but I can do that, much easier to have the info/emotes aliased though.

I think if you use " around the statement, it will interpret it verbatim and shouldn't cause the error. It is annoying that the local variable character in Cmud is the same as the one we use for color codes. I'm not sure but I think that the tilde ~ will also inhibit the following character from being parsed.

\ in a button command? I don't know. Right now, I have three chained emotes and a say, followed by something I have to physically type in and one thing from my alias list, then a second button and another something I have to type in. Not sure what the \ would do.

And grep, I'm a minister not a coder, half the stuff in this topic is completely Greek to me. So I will take all the help I can get and probably ask dumb questions in the process.

Achernar, I'll give your suggestion a shot after I'm done digging out the driveway. As far as the ~ being used, would the input for that be ~$A then? From what I've seen, it has no issue with any of the color codes except for that one. Though I've not tried $I or $R either, so these may cause issues as well.

I tried exactly that and it worked like a charm earlier. Just put a tilde (~) in front of each dollar sign ($). (ie ~$7~$I for white)

It worked, though I only had to put the ~ infront of the $I and $A. I am guessing it works the same for $R and $B (though that one I don't ever plan on using). Thanks Achernar.

Now, quick question since I have to actually be present to push said button, stacking a few emotes on each is ok, right? I'm not talking a full screen of spam, just some religious stuff. I think the most is six commands, but I can break that down if needed/requested.
