Yes, GMs with mastered skin skill fail all the time. The fail rate is re-donkey-lous.

Skinning should deffo be changed back for it to be useful. I'm completely fine with apprentice scouts not being able to succesfully skin mithril lions, however I do not see the reason GM scout skinning should be as useless as it is now.

Doesn't seem quite alright when asking a GM scout to skin for you and he goes, "Well I'll tell ya sirs! I'm a master at this!" and then goes on to fail 17 out of 20 tries.

That's my two cents.

I agree 100%.

I understand the need to 'nerf' certain characters and their skills for balance reasons, but I never understood why this particular skill was changed to such a degree that made it just awful to use when on the random skinning expedition. Was this because dragonscale was implemented? I remember skinning changes were done the same time dragonscale was placed on the list of things skinnable.

If that's the case, here is my solution: Just lower the fail rate, but keep the chance of succeeding dependent on the material like it is now. Especially if the skill is mastered completely and the character is above master (remember, its not about becoming GM!). That way, you get to keep the nerf, but make the players not complain so bitterly.

I do believe I take it back, more extensive testing has showed that this isn't as bad as I first thought.(Or something has been done already.) Perhaps the skinning-rate of some of the "harder" to come by beasts (unique dragons etc) could be upped slightly, but in regards to mithril skins that were the main part of my former rant, I am rather satisfied now.

I'd still like to see people being able to make custom clothing, like, instead of just vests for "on body", maybe also jerkin, bodice, corset, tunic, blouse.
Instead of just leggings, also have skirt, kilt.
I don't know enough about skinning to give more examples for the other body areas.

Horsehats, horseshorts, horsehairbands, horsesandals. The list goes on.
