So yeah. I know this is going to probably be met with a big resounding "NO!" but still, I'm going to post it anyways.

What do you guys think of imposing age limits on statuses? Say, to achieve Grandmaster status, you need to be able to advance (champ 4+ may advance) and a set age based on race. Say at least 25-30 years old for humans, etc.

Theres a couple of reasons why I suggest this. One, is in my opinion, it would convince people to keep characters longer. Theres a few people who level to GM, PK for a while and then they disappear. This wouldn't effectively stop that, but it'd ensure the character is around at least for a bit longer.

The second reason would it would convince people to PK / RP a bit before GM. With the new loot rules, at master you can almost hold anything except god-like quality items (correct me if i'm wrong on this!). With age limits, longer lived characters would have more of an advantage and benefit for well, being longer lived. More seasoned and experienced fighters could keep armor from thieves better etc.

The third reason: It would -somewhat- limit hoarding. We all hate hoarding and whatnot. If a person tries to hoard items before they reach GM or so, it's more prone to thieves stealing it, thus it can be gotten by someone else who could use it. Of course, this really only delays the said hoarder from reclaiming the item in 30 seconds again.

The downfall, is that Necromancers and such would have to be tweaked since they can't use wraiths until GM. That would put them at a severe disadvantage as well as scouts not being able to skin certain things and find certain herbs.

What do you guys think? Yes? No?

It would help -me- personally, but I don't think it's fair. What I'd rather see is the age bonuses happening in lesser amounts, but more times.

No to this too, because when you get an 'age bonus' you also get an 'age de-bonus' to your physical stats.

This would have an unintended consequence of inviting people to simply not play their characters. It is not unlike other time requirements in the game such as, but not limited to, jail sentences, delays in cabal training, and general "challenging" inducting procedures.

People already complain about how slow leveling is and how they can't get to gm.

Making it even slower for them is just rediculous. :/

If anything, make it easier to gm...quicker.

Without much thought I can think of a lot of reasons why this is a really really bad idea.

First, you'd completely screw over the people who enjoy leveling, and enjoy doing it fast. And 25-30 years? :S What is that, like 2-3 months?

Second, people already PK / RP before GM. Not everybody does it, because it's sweet to not have enemies before you're done leveling.

Third, it wouldn't stop people from hoarding. Can't think of an item that you can't keep at champ 4 and if anything, it'd make it harder to dehoard people. Hoarding is lame, but they just lose more stuff when they die eventually.

Last, it would eliminate what some people enjoy doing. E.g. "Hey, lightie side is too strong! Come on guys, reroll.. *3 people rerollifies*" and they get to GM within a week, and the game balances itself out.

People are so quick to whine about powerplayers, but every so often they make sure the game is balanced and while I can see that it must be disturbing that other players can level a char to GM 5 times before you can level 1, the fact that they help balance the game out must not be underestimated.

While a good idea in theory, it doesn't really solve things practically. What's stopping someone from shelving a character for x number of IC years before finally playing it and doing exactly what they are doing now...

sleeps
