Alrighty, so we know that Hellions can cast the debuffers on their weapons, for an opening cleave, doing some nice damage, blinding, deafening, weakening, plagueing, etc all at once.

I have a few questions about that process:

Can you "pimp your blade" if it's in your inventory? Or only if you're wielding it?

How long do the debuffs last if you don't use your weapon?

If you use your weapon, is it gone after the first attack?

If your first attack misses, are the debuffs still gone?

Is there any difference in success chance when comparing the spell being cast directly on the target, and into the weapon which hits the target?

First of all, not all of those can actually be used on a weapon. For instance, you can't 'deafen' or 'blind' a weapon. Plague, poison, weaken, curse are the extents of what you can pimp it with.

You can do it in your inventory as well but at times that has been..buggy with the blade applying the debuffs to YOU when you wield it.

2 ticks.

It's gone after the first -hit-

See above.

I don't believe weapon debuffs use your art, although don't quote me on that.

Thanks!

Now, about the wielding it and it debuffing you... you referred to it as a bug, right? That means that it's not supposed to happen, and when an Imm has some time they're going to fix it? (or try?) It'd be a pretty tough fix, it seems like (based on my non-existent programming experience), due to having all those things that buff/debuff you on purpose when you wear them.

I'm not SURE if that bug is still around, but if it is it's only something Dulrik can fix (he may have already at some point in the past).

I had a hellion last year some time and was hit with them when wielding it that way.

Don't think its been fixed yet, but I may be wrong. *shrugs*

I'm not sure if Dulrik ever fixed this or even considers it a bug but the debuffs will check if a character parries your attack. I am unsure if it happens during a shield block though.

Parry is a reaction to a successful attack. In other words, they have indeed 'hit' you already.

I'm assuming the mystical magic of hellion weapon hexes can insidiously disregard whether its hit your armor or your skin, so long as it gets 'into your aura,' so to speak. Melee touch attacks are a bit like that, disregarding armor bonuses to armor class for the same reason. That being said, it could be argued that it is working as intended for parry to not save you from a hexed weapon.

I am aware of that, grep.

SK is not D&D, however.

I remember hearing ages back that maledicted weapons took into account the art of the person making the attack. I believe this is true, as the game mechanic seems to act as if the wielder cast the spell on the target.

Also, if your own weapon is poisoned, then you take poison damage as if you were poisoned as long as you wield it. It's a bug.

I'd like to also add that until four or so days ago, I didn't realize you could maledict weapons you were wielding :(.
