There's a certain spell that prevents some actions from going through, that apparently has a couple bugs associated with it as well. Testing isn't really feasible for me, since whenever it gets cast on me it's typically because whoever cast it is trying to kill me.

That said, log of stuff happening.

Note: P is an alias for 'c hell *&'.

You find it very difficult to move!

You utter the words, 'pzrryucandus'.
Aramith dodges aside as your hellfire washes over him.

***Second message for casting. This one is different from before, and also disables the spell completely for me, as seen later.***

Bug #1: Concentration. After this, I experienced a concentration loss. One or both of those two castings where I started concentrating and then didn't finish didn't properly release my concentration, even after the spell wore off. Relogging fixed this, of course, but relogging isn't possible in combat.

Bug #2: The first time I tried to cast hellfire after being affected, I got a "You can't cast right now!" message. Then I tried to cast again, and it gave a "You have no knowledge of that spell!" message. After the second message, I couldn't even try to cast. It's -possible- that this is the intended function of the spell, but I honestly doubt it.

IMMs, send me a PM if you want the full log. I'm only posting it here to make people who are either using this spell or going to have this spell used on them to be advised that it's definitely bugged, especially the concentration part.

Perhaps it could be an alias problem? Aliases won't work, in my experience, unless you use the format 'c hell &*' instead of 'c hell *&'. Obviously this may be a typo on your part and if that is the case, I apologize for a stupid post :p

eh wha? It shows him casting it with his alias. it .cant'. be his alias being the problem. If it was a typo, he wouldn't concentrate at all, it'd just say 'huh? wha?' or whatever generic message it is when you blotch something.

The error "You have no knowledge of that spell!" is caused when you try to cast a spell you do not know. In my case, this happens when I shorten a spell's name to the point where the game's auto-complete feature tries to cast something else. For example: cast 'cure d,' and then you get cure deafness instead of cure disease.

When you try to cast something that is not a spell, you get a different error, "That's not a spell!"

You got the "You have no knowledge of that spell!" error AFTER you started concentrating. This leads me to believe some effect came into play that blanked out your access to the spell. I do not know what the error message is for disabled spells, but I know that once you hit the "no knowledge" error, it would naturally come up before concentrating.

Interestingly, I note that you were first affected by the spell while concentrating on a cast. Do you know if these strange quirks happen if you receive the spell effect while not concentrating on a cast?

The concentration problem happens once in a while, did too for confusion/hold person back then.

This, however, I am fairly certain is that the spell requires a roll for all actions to resolve - this includes properly finishing the spell, not just initiating the cast. One could definitely argue that the wording should be altered, but I definitely believe it is the intent - sans the concentration issues.
