Dear Imms:

Was it entirely necessary to put a grandmaster undead with an adamantite hide five rooms from the inn in Teron? Were necromancers really that desperately in need of help?

Your loving priestess,

Jor Jor Binks

not for or against this idea but

when imms do this kinda thing they usually are nearby or animating the NPC!

roleplaying could potentially lead to fun times, a lot of people get enlightenments and stuff

but yeah getting killed isn't so hot ><

No Minette, there's actually a GM undead NPC with adamantite hide just outside of Teron's inn. It's been there since the last Necro tourney.

Still, it sucks. Any hammer or paladin can GG it without barely even lifting a finger. Anyone else for that matter really, unless you give it a leet weapon.

And unless you give it armor along with that leet weapon, you're probably gonna lose the weapon.

I just thought of a really sick tactic that's now very easily available to necromancers.

It was a pretty lame place to put it, aye. Is there only one, now, though? There used to be two roaming the graveyard if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah. They both suck pretty bad though, dead serious.

Four wraith animates is just as powerful if not more so than both of those crappy things and cost a fraction of the concentration and no mana drain to hold, not to mention that wraiths also don't get angry at you if dispelled and also don't walk off with your EQ if you need to release them. Dang things aren't even aggro so they don't go crazy if you release them in public.

If you want to complain about necro balance, the Teron graveyard is not the place to start.

That might be true, heck I'll even go so far as to say it is true.

However, with all the flak necros have gotten recently (about them being overpowered, mind you), putting in something which actively eases their utility is just plain foolish.

Think about it, even if they aren't that great (I find it funny that you only compare them to wraiths, not other controls) - they are available smack dab in the middle of a busy PK center (and extremely close to a teleport anchor). Many of the drawbacks of elementals are there for the sole fact that they are easily accessible. It isn't a factor you should disregard.

Not to mention that a top-tier control is now available without doing round-about errands which vastly increases their potential for naked suicide rampaging immediately after resurrection with naught but a few platinums worth of weapons.

So hang out in Taslamar, Nerina or Sith'a'niel. Those cities all attack undead on sight.

All's I'm saying is that the patchwork horror is squishy. It's GM and all, yeah, but it's squishy. I'm MUCH more scared of a naked sorc with a GM barbarian charm that's... Oh look, twelve rooms from the Teron inn, than I am of a naked necro with that lousy control.

The most popular charms and dominates come from Teron. These are GM and some even come with equipment. It is also possible, and in the past was the standby MO to summon high level undead. How is their location in Teron any different from the location of undead in the Cursed Woods? It is actually closer to the stones. I'd say the NPCs there are almost on par with those, while not as high of level, ridiculously simple to access and dangerous if equipped.

last time I played, Sith'a'niel attacked undead on sight, very quickly

Exile attacked if the undead lingered, but some of them can be darted past

Nerina never attacked undead :x

but this was a while ago!
