Give Art the ability to negate MP or remove the ability to enchant weapons with damage and see how non-spellcasters like MP now.

I don't see why people are for making scrolls and other items the end-all be-all of PK when you could make those damage spells everyone uses to level actually useful.

The best build for me seems to be 6 art, no mana. Scrolls are key, so you want to have the 6 art, but beyond that it's (largely) wasted.

So charm shouldn't be nerfed, and damage spells should be buffed?

This thread is hilarious.

Why are people complaining about charm person so hard.

Charm person is an awesome RP tool.

And Turon is right about damage spells/etc.

I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't be able to scroll hostile spells, but I'd care a lot less about charm person if damage spells were actually useful. Infact, if MP were negated by art, I'd be perfectly happy with Charm Person only working on NPCs. There'd actually be options other than one-hit wonders.

People scribe their damage because it's better than actually casting it and it leads to a stupid arms race with overpowered and strong scrolls/wands/staves. It's stupid and not at all "strategy"

Yeah, God forbid a sorc has to get something besides a full mana pool to compete in PvP.

And Syn, were you around before or after the buff to charm? Now it's complete dominance (You can only say, look and auto summon now)

I was around, and I -think- I had Ealuriel for a few months before the change to charm. (Not entirely sure.)

It's actually fun and POSSIBLE to RP now with charm, before the change, most people would just be complete aholes when they got charmed.

Why charm someone you want to kill when you can use nifty things like...

You utter the words, 'uoculoihuyl'.
This is the Scripture of Immediate Vengeance, a tiny energy scroll,
weighing approximately 1 lbs. The scroll has strong spells of harm, harm
and harm. It is of outstanding quality and is worth approximately 450
silver.

Some people are just really into that.

Before the change, charm -was- just used as a quick gank, because as soon as you charmed someone they would go;

tell ally I've been charmed by YYY, we're in ZZZ.
CB Help! ZZZ charmed me in YYY!

or

sit
sleep
sleep
sleep
land
sleep

People should be using it to RP more now. If they aren't, they should be getting in trouble.

I opt for the "Zombie" approach. When my character is charmed, I go make a chai latte nowadays.

Why triple harm someone and deal 40% damage when you can insta-kill them with...

Well okay, now you have to scribe it. But you get the point. And the other point is that while charm -could- be used for RP, there never was and never will be any rule dictating that it mustn't be used in PvP. Thus, it was overpowered in PvP.

You can use it in PvP all you want, but you should RP some with whoever you've charmed, unless you're in the middle of a group fight or something.
