I'm not speaking for or against the change either but...how do you 'secretly' defend a city against attackers? From what I've seen in tribs before...you pretty much swear to defend any time someone attacks your city before they let you in?

Tribunals don't just have to be about defending a city, y'know. There's room for more RP than just that. But, putting aside the fact that tribunals are woefully underdeveloped, having spies gathering intelligence on other nations is useful for defending a nation, albeit mostly unused.

And when I was inducted into the Peacekeepers with Eyrios, and when I led, I was never asked/asked anyone to defend the city, it was serving Taslamar. And that's much more than just defending a city. Defending our kingdom, aiding our allies, supporting the coffers, these are all things one can do without having to say to the world "Hey, I'm a Peacekeeper, guys!"

And sorry for derailing your thread, Jorinthia, but not all of this have the chance to talk about this change in the Trib forums and, well...this is the SK forum. A thread about randomness could get derailed here within five posts.

According to Dulrik's latest statement, tribunals are the "Police".

The Police has "undercover cops" whose jurisdiction starts and ends in the nation itself. It doesn't have "spies".

Aside from that, there is a separate issue that bugs me for a while now, and I'm trying to cope with how to best express it. Not for this thread, however.

I, too, agree with Jorinthia's original suggestion, more as a "leeway" to lower levels, rather than any reasonable, rp-wise explanation.

EDIT: To add a little something: The minute someone joins the Talon, the entire city of Nerina provides more than enough hints that someone is a Talon. Just an additive to the "no spies" argument above.

I would like to take this time, to thank the Imms for implementing efforts to curb tribunals leaders that misuse the code or outright cheat. I am glad that this will keep tribunals from declaring war on allies, just so they can take troops into their cities for la las, among other things.

I don't think this is as good a change as what Cannibal suggested: Make the guards aggro to guard NPCs of other kingdoms.

Putting a level cap on it will help, but doesn't solve the problem of tribunal members getting owned for no explicable reason at all. Why do the guards of other kingdoms know when I induct someone again?

Yes, I know the Talon NPCs emote differently for Talon members. But that's a far cry from NPCs in -other kingdoms- attacking you on sight. To be honest, I'm really annoyed that this went in without even any requested feedback from players.

I had thought this was hashed out on forums I no longer have access to.

Ah well.

Jorinthia's idea is worth considering: if secret tribunal members are supposed to be allowed within the system, then the system should examine how to maintain secrecy when walking in front of an enemy guard.

I do not think the Imms should be required to change code, just because it messed with your RP. If you want to be a secret member, then be secret. Signing you name on that dotted line and entering "Service" means you are no longer "Secret". In real life, you might not know that know a Navy Seal's identity, but you can tell he is in the US military on sight.

Almost everyone in this game walks their character around fully clad in armor and wielding a weapon. I am surprised guards don't attack you on sight when trying to enter the gate.

It is absolutely garbage when I see characters who I know are at war with a nation, walking around and buying crap from vendors, chilling out in the Inn, or just goofing off in the middle of town. That does not happen in WAR. I am willing to sack the idea of "secret" membership so that the rp effect of war overall is maintained.

So you would be up for this applying to cabals, too? This auto-attack mechanic?

Yep. I have no business in a nation I am at war with, other then subverting their rule or outright killing them. They would be foolish NOT to attack me on sight if I am at war with them.
