The helpfile is wrong. Waist counts. And size does not (for the slots in question when dealing with nonarmor). Neither does about body.

I thought waist previousy did not, but that was subsequently corrected (i.e. the code was wrong at the time, since the helpfile was right) ?

I'd think, if one or the other was going to have the effect, it would be "about body," rather than waist. Not that I'm complaining. A mithril surcoat on a sorc is pretty awesome - just ridiculous compared to a belt.

lol@Alshain. I may be giving him too much credit for a joke but for those of you who don't understand, he manages the help file system. It is true that waist used to not count. Thus why one would see every single sorceror wearing the best adamantite waist armor in the game. Which makes no sense and was changed for good reason, and not updated in the helpfile.

Well, I figure I'll direct all of my dumb questions into this thread. Sorry if I'm bothersome.
On the subject of armor, does the armor's material affect the armor's quality? For example would glass armor offer less protection or break easier than mithril armor?

Absolutely. In almost every case, it is common sense. Glass will shatter (pretty quickly against a good weapon), cannot be repaired, and is generally incomparable to mithril.

Ah, I figured as much, since my armor started rapidly breaking as soon as I began fighting NPCs that actually use weapons. Thanks.

I'm not sure if the quote came from a mud helpfile or the website help, but its fixed on the mud. The website help has not been updated since the code on armor was adjusted. This is also why some containers which used to be on the waist are now about the body.

Use TYPO in-game, else refer to Achernar's reply. The website is not currently up to date as the manual mechanism to update the webserver is down. Work is being done to make the update process automatic and unattended.
