Not sure why the big fuss but in any case, here is the answer to:

Do mastered spells fail?

-Mathematically -NO-. The rule is that mastered spells do NOT fail.

Exception to this, confirm the rule.

I think the 'Go test it' is a ridiculous statement. Especially as I believe mastered spells don't fail. As if I test it 1000 times and there are no fails, someone will just say well you didn't test it enough.

That is why the description for spells/skills got changed from perfect to mastered. Masters of their craft are not perfect and may not always do it perfectly. Mastered does NOT mean perfect. I only said what I said because I know the D won't respond to this thread because he generally doesn't respond to threads when it deals with numbers in the game.

so the best answer in this case really is test it out and tell us. If it is as high of a percentage as Gilgon thinks it is (which seems to be a fairly good guestamate), you might have to do it 1000 times to get a large enough sample to pin a percentage on it.

Sheesh, Why are you complaining about doing the background work on the question you asked. If it takes 1000 tries to even attempt to a fail, its pretty darn close to perfect.

Well I did cure light over a thousand times two nights ago, not a single fail.

Entropy, like God, works in mysterious ways.

My god, just cause I have bad luck with number genrators. If I had known it would generate this much hooplah I would have attempted to log it and post it. Have to do that next time it happens. WOW is all I have to say. You have to consider the number of calculations the processor does a day and then realize it may be a once in a while thing, but it will happen.

Mastered spells can fail, I've seen it happen quite a few times.

But I have never seen two hydrogen atoms combine and release mass into a large burst of energy and form a helium atom, so it can't possibly happen.

Is there a specific number of tests you'd recommend?
