I've personally been burned by this one.

I had a terribad player once basically give me the shaft when they asked me to invest them -- 10 minute wait times between three four-word responses. After a half an hour -- yes, that's nine words into his side of the conversation, and no, I didn't try terribly hard to fill the other side -- I told him (both ic and ooc) to come back when he was actually interested in having this conversation.

Said player was imm-invested and I was scolded via PM not twenty-four hours later.

Yeah, I had someone banking on the auto-invest one time, literally NODDING through the conversation. I did the same thing, but I forwarded the log to the imm in question before they could QQ about it. Seems your only real defense.

I used to use my warblade to delete the pfiles of anyone I didn't think fit in Sargas. That works pretty well, too.

Well you can think what you want, and you can deny them and turn them away, but now they WILL get invested as soon as an Imm hears about it, and it WILL come back to bite you in the [REDACTED]. Your only discourse at this point is blemish.



I'm reminded, fondly, of the warlock Silla and her completely pathetic and misguided attempts to join the church of Khore when I played Ilkaisha and gork played Ralance. She was seeking, and we had a pretty easy "quest" that we sent people on to join. We told her to gather an example of each of the elements so that we could have a sacrifice to Khore.

Instead of going to get these items (a rock, a kite, a waterskin, a match . . . these things would have sufficed, and are not hard to come by) she came to the volcano empty handed and insisted that she was an example of all 4 elements. I asked her if I could sacrifice her, and she declined. I told her to get the hell out of my sight. She was specifically told that there would be a sacrifice and she expected to be patted on her head for being so clever instead of playing along with a SIMPLE RP sacrifice.

Ralance and Ilkaisha denied her entry into the church for . . . my god . . . IC decades. Khore finally felt sorry for her, but she was still worthless as far as the church went.

That's actually a pretty bad example of church investing RP!

Could have just killed her and continued my sacrifice as planned. Instead, I let her live and refused her entry. I was a dark aura and could have done it either way. Doesn't much matter now.

Yeah, I just think it's lame to have people gather items (no matter how easily one may come by them) before you consider letting them into the church.

I'm not commenting on the character in question, they may have been terrible and whatnot. But quests like that should be left to do AFTER the investment, which should happen after a short, concise interview in which religious matters are discussed.

And seriously.. where can you get a kite in sk?

It's a fairly common item, in a very easily-easily accessed toy shop. Not so hard.

But this was before the change - it was allowed then. We'd already talked to her and didn't like her, but were willing to see if she'd do it and manage to "rp her way out of a wet bag" to get invested. It seriously would have taken her 5 minutes to get the stuff.

I thought the rule was that you couldn't make them wait not that you had to accept them. That is, say yes (and induct) or say no fairly quickly - don't keep them hanging for ages with no clear answer.
