I've kinda skimmed over the thread, however I've got some things I've noticed a running trend in not being acknowledged.

As a deep elf, you have to run with your strengths - that is high int, high dex. The only way you'd ever make a deep-elf battlepriest work is with a boatload of enchanting and using stat mods.

With this in mind, I would suggest the top stats be int, dex, and con. Don't max any of your stats - keep each of them 4 out from max so you can find one +greater to each. This will free up your points for HP and art. Forget mana - if you're aiming to be a battle priest, you will never have a rich mana pool, and you shouldn't aim for it. You should be utilizing all of your skills/spells/armor to reduce your chance of being bashed and reducing damage. If your HP pool is ever being tapped into with any significance past prot/sanctuary/armor/etc, chances are you're in a fight you're not going to win anyway. Art will make sure your spear of faith lands, and that is a #*$&ing painful spell when it lands fully.

Building one will require gear-knowledge very heavily. However, I've seen a few successful ones in my time (I've played one, but relied on that magical vestment skill - and the other one relied on the Hammer of Light weapon and only fought dark auras). With the current weapon build, you can skew the fight in your favor with your dexterity. I'm not saying you're going to destroy worlds, but it's viable...and very fun.

Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha!

No.

You should instantly dismiss this statement, and probably most, if not all of the rest of this post.

Well, thank you all. Although my char will be uppity and judgemental and thinking she is better than all, I am not. Strong believer of ICA=ICC so don't be offended if I don't chatter oocly, though feel free to hit me up in a PM here.

I'm - NOT- looking to make her a tank, but I am looking to make her be somewhat successful. INT is already maxxed, and I am working on WIS - as she is still pretty low. After reading the help on enchants they will be needed if I wish to at least get some half decent armor.

Her CHA is already naturally Influential and with all the suggestions, I'll have to determine which is the better pay off... hp or mana... guess that will depend on where she ends up.

Again, thank you all.

me bad typo.. thanks le petite prince

Don't bother. Priests do not tank, unless they happen to be in a certain lightie cabal. They get only one defensive skill (shield block), which is nowhere near enough to tank. You'll get bashed, and then dead. Alternatively, if you're not mounted, you'll get tripped and dead.

Or bashed and dead even if the mount is flying.

I'm not looking to have her as a tank, just good enough to survive when the going gets tough.

I experienced a huge increase in "emergency short-term durability" just by having the armor spell upon my priest (at the highest caster level -- "GM armor") and going mood defensive.

This, in addition to middling enchantments, already do a great deal for your character. Protection, sanctuary, and other benedictions you will be able to brew for yourself as a priest only add to your toolkit.

I feel that the points we are able to spend on our characters are best spent on what we want to specialize in. Stat trains seem to be most enjoyed when they bolster strengths rather than mediate weakness; my last sorcerer with the highest or second-available tier in all her stats frequently was unacceptably mediocre at most everything I had her attempt.

When the going gets tough, and you're left in the front row, and YOU start getting hit and no one can rescue you. The best tanking is to Recall. And bring everyone back to life in the most priestly manner.
