I know. I made fun of Adroan and Alshain took it seriously. He's clever like that.

I voted yes, but to be honest, I instantly regret it. That would make the too overpowered. I still feel they could get shield block though.

Bards have combat skills?

Play a GM bard with armor, dance, songs of protection, and haste/innate high dexterity. See how often you get hit/take damage at all, ever. You're the only class that's damn near immune to bash with built in skills. It's been a very long time, but I haven't seen any/many code updates that would affect this. I imagine mood defensive, the way it is now, would make you pretty much the only class that could yawn at a necro and just kill him through the war of attrition of taking out undead one at a time. Unless you have a few scrolls of win, or a paladin standing behind you, which would make the fight easier. Bards are stand-up front row tanks if you gear them right.

Get some friends to give you spirit aura, magical vestments, and prot and welcome to beast tank town, population: you.

Or make a lightie bard and join the fist, and pretty much win life with tank + damage output. I'm not sure about why people would ask to get them buffed. You can either completely and wholely disable an enemy group, or you can tank like a mofo. Trance would be more mercy for levelling than anything else.

Though, shield block would be nice if they don't have it yet...I don't see why they haven't been given it, though it would just give more sauce to their tanking abilities.

Bards are not stand up front tanks.
Mood defensive if awesome.
Bards get light armor, dodge, and parry (if they aren't using the whip - their signature weapon). Some people would argue that dance makes them good enough to be front row, but in all honesty, it doesn't.

Shield block would change that, but again, it would upset that nice balance the bards have.

Besides, bards have tumble for a reason- it's the only skill (that I know of) that makes you go further back in the formation than you were before.

A bard could rock a necromancer's socks, but only if the setting was right. I think two (maybe three) B majors would kill all the wraiths, and perhaps another (depending on if the necro was deafened) would kill the necro. The only way to do this without getting wraith-raped up whatever orifices your character might have, is to be a room away, and lucky enough that they won't be able to find you before you finish the rest of the chords.

From my experiences, the lag on b aug sixth prohibits this. Take in account that you can't have a pet using it or it'll turn on you (since it hits enemies and friends alike) and well, it's a -very- situational use spell. Now if you had access to a murder hole (i think it hits through those) and a safe haven to where they had to go through NPCs, then ..No it still wouldn't work unless they were fighting the NPCs that your chord hits, otherwise the NPCs / guards would come in and own you.

Dance bonuses seem hardly noticeable at all to me. Even with a high dex, NPCs don't seem to have much trouble bashing or tripping my char. Same with players.

I agree with the trance issue. Resting as a bard is HORRID. Even at GM it takes -forever- to actually regen and songs of sleep / silence, even at GM take 2-3 % a line can run do you down fast. Meditation would make it broken if they can regen while singing. Also...Buff the lesser used songs plzkthx. [nod] (songs of dancing i'm looking at you. >.>)
