Why would you need to mount the pet if you are flying?

PE reduction, formation, being in a certain cabal, not getting tripped if you are dispelled (Okay, that one is a stretch), there are plenty of reasons.

Don't get me wrong: for selfish reasons, I'd like to the flight spell to magically be able to lift your mount into the air; but it's not right.

Mounting reduces PE cost to a laughably low level; the cabal has an innately flying pet; yes, it is a stretch... there may be plenty of reasons, but none that can provide any legitimacy to the concept of a flying character remaining in flight while mounting a landed pet.

I don't really see the problem with mounting a landed pet while you are flying.

As per the OP's log, the Shattered Kingdom's code currently doesn't handle the disparity in flight vs. no flight properly. Mounts that are not flying can be affected by certain events that a rider who is flying is not affected by. If you are in the saddle, both rider and mount should be affected.

If you're not in the saddle and/or you're not wanting to cop the affects of something like river currents, then you shouldn't be considered as mounted. River currents are just one example - I'm sure there are other combinations that also break when there are mixed flying flags.

PS: It's like having tea, and no tea.
