Just to clarify, I would alias any spell that you might be using in a pvp or pve setting, when time matters.
magic missile, acid blast, charm, sleep, color spray, petrification, dispel magic, certain cabal spells . . . maybe something else i've forgotten.

Doyenne suggesting that you alias your detects and nothing else shows that she is actually a massive newb, and you should ignore the rest of her post.

Actually, you all have helped me a ton. I've learned a lot in the last few days. I have aliased a lot of my spells, but I need better aliases, mine are too long, and I need a machine that makes it so I can't typo.

I don't know very many well enough to make a value judgment but Joharin roleplayed with me and included me on several things and slowed down his traveling so I knew where the heck I was going. He also explains things. Zecha has been pissed as hell at him, but I like him.

lol what aliases are you using?

cs for color spray
ab for acid blast
sl for sleep
ch for charm person
pet for petrification
mm for magic missile
dis or dp for dispel magic

Those are what I used and it worked out fine for me.

I had all of my detects on one alias, also.

alias det c 'detect invis';c 'detect buried'; c 'detect hidden'; c 'detect aura'

you could tack magic on there if you wanted, but I hardly EVER used that spell
