If on the other hand it's something his character would know but he just doesn't as a newbie, why shouldn't he ask ooc? It's not as if every one of your characters goes around asking people questions to learn who, say, Dreddnahr is - unless you choose to.

There's using ooc info, and then there's learning about the game to set up your character. If someone asked "so guys who's in the MC right now" I could see the outrage but I really don't get the resistance to helping other people learn the backstory type details that they really ought to have available as prior knowledge if it fits their char.

K thx. In my opinion, anything that is in the help files should be known ICly to everyone. We do refer to them as scrolls ICly and everyone seems to have access to all of them, I just didn't know which one to read. I am a tiny bit less of a newb today thanks to Enishi.

Where do people come up with these ideas? Help files referred to as scrolls, enchantments as runes. I could possibly see the help files referred to as texts though.

Been doing it for 3 months, no one said anything about it.

For example, help vows is referred to as the scrolls on the path of a knight. At least, that's how Xonin and Ericos referred to it. Not sure how they refer to it anymore.

Texts? Scrolls? Where are they? You see them when you type help <topic> they are OOC help files.

You can just say it's generally known or whatever. Because as far as the IC world is concerned, they don't exist in their form. They're just stuff you're supposed to know.

You agree every character should know all of the OOC help files. Then, how do we refer to the information on them?

Just had a thought. How about referring to them as insights from the immortals?
