Clarify?

All that's happened is that the sexy step-sister of Zero Tolerance, named Don't Ask Don't Tell, has finally arrived at the party.

A policy of "don't ask, don't tell" implies if you don't draw attention to yourself then you'll get away with it. This is not the case and you are just as likely to be caught and deleted. Excuses of "but I saw it in a log" or "the forums said I could" are wrong and won't be listened to. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, but I occasionally check everyone online for:

1. A complete newbie who is lost/stuck/dead - assist, perhaps
2. A complete newbie who is doing well - an encouragement echo, maybe
3. >Novice needing adjectives or descriptions - send polite reminder
4. Anyone botting in any way - delete, 100% chance, every time.

Some may think we're unreasonably hard on players caught botting. Consider that those who bot to level, serve jail times, automate combat, perfect their skills or any other reason are gaining an unfair advantage over those who play by the rules.

As several folks have mentioned, you have other options in your client of:
1. Highlighting lines or otherwise making events easier to notice within your client interface
2. Pre-fill a command or otherwise present to whomever is at the keyboard an option to execute a string based on an event, that first requires an action by the user.
3. Extrapolating an event to indicate a likely outcome of your own estimation, such that you may want to take (manual) action sooner.

If your MUD is configured to send any text to the MUD without needing the player at the keyboard, your character will be deleted. I can't explain it any clearer than that. If folks are saying they got away with it in the past for some reason it may have simply been a period when we had less staff hours spent online.

We currently have a good crop of creative, active immortals and we'd all be better off if they were able to focus on improving the game instead of hunting down cheaters. Playing within the rules as a playerbase keeps everyone looking forward.

Is it really hard to $alias bm butcher corpse, and just type bm a few times after you kill a bunch of NPCs? You do the same for the hit command.

Or do I.

Who the hell uses "hit" by the way.

That's like these nubs who train their skills/levels, instead of practicing them.

TRAIN IS FOR ATTRIBUTES.

I started using hit after I kept killing my guards instead of ordering him due to o and k being so close to each other. That and now I don't have to waste an alias.

One of my favorite practices I've recently adopted.
