the loot you might find here is on a whole other level from what you can find elsewhere.

Frankly, I fail to see the wisdom in creating rewards that will only widen the divide between newbs and vets. I'd be more interested in the Dreamscape if the builders defended it by saying they spent time making it enjoyable, not that they put broken loot in alongside super hardcore encounters and Gygax-inspired scripts. I now have a suspicion that these rewards are balanced by the difficulties in obtaining them, and this thought makes me cringe.

Tell me, did any immortals or heroes fully playtest the area - and its rewards - before it was released?

I have no idea what gygax is so I doubt it i based any scripts on it. As for loot...it's not as overpowering as you might think, just different - but definitely worth getting imho.

Short answer? Not completely, obviously.

Long answer, no the entire area was not playtested, but I was privy to one venture where Algorab was all like "Hey man I know you're busy killing people but if you want you come test my thing and tell me how awesome you are while you're at it" and I was like "yeah man but you gotta pay me 50 bucks" and he was like "ok lolol" and then I went through it with some other peeps and was like "this sux hahaha ur scripts so bugd" and he was like "aw man you right it does suck lemme fix its too easy" and I was like "no way man im just so awesome it lookz easy" and he was like "ya u right but I'm making it harder anyway what's your paypal info i'll pay you double if you talk me up to your friends" and I was like "no way i dont sell out."

Pretty sure that's how things went at least.

It's no secret that more -should- have been playtested (IE: One boss petrifying everyone whose statues immediately crumbled) but I'm pretty sure that the part which remains to be seen since its official induction into the game has been playtested to a degree: I was part of it.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

Gygax was one of the early D&D guys famous for "roll the dice....... oh, hey, you died" scenarios.

I don't mind fighting powerful NPCs and all that jazz. I do mind having ridiculous script that make the entire thing a headache.

Like corpse rotting, no rezzing, etc.

One key much-requested change has been made.

Sometime over the rainbow, when I pull myself together and level a character, it is definitely my very first objective to try out the dreamscape - even higher than killing Beethiok if he was magically reinstated. And believe me, that speaks volumes. (by the way, this is a positive sentiment about the area - or rather, my conception of it)
