I was thinking about this, and I couldn't rightly think of a balance reason why warlock elementals are dispellable. And to argue in terms of IC logic, perhaps the bond a warlock has with the elemental plane is based in a different sort of magic than that known to the arcane mages and thus unable to be broken by such means.

Now I'm not saying this is a good idea, I'm just throwing it out here to get some opinions.

I've always been baffled with how easy it is to dispel a warlock's elemental. Warlocks are one of the weakest classes in the game imo, they can't even have a pet and an elemental at the same time, and anybody with dispel magic or even scrolls can get rid of what is supposed to be one of the best tanks in the game.

Making it so elementals couldn't be dispelled would be a well-deserved buff for warlocks.

I don't recall ever playing a warlock myslef, but remember hearing more then once they can't have a pet + elemental, right? If that's so, I'd have to vote that yeah, you shouldn't be able to dispel them.

I mean, sure, a Sorc can have a charm, but it can be canceled or the sorc dispelled, right? Same with a Necro + a control + animated right? But both can still have a pet which (of course) can't be dispelled.

So it only makes sense that the elementals shouldn't be able to be dispelled.

EDIT: ty Baldric for the confirmation, I vote yes.

Completely vote yes. I say they should be buffed to begin with. Perhaps go a step farther and take their timer away and make them hold concentration. Warlocks don't have many spells that hold concentration anyways. so it wouldn't be a big deal for em. An elemental doesn't even last as long as a wraith (1 ic day, so about 27-35 mins or so. Wraiths last about 45 and the damage output from them is scary and come in multiples.)

They shouldn't be undispellable, but warlocks should be able to have pets with an elemental, and the summon timer should reset or set to 5 ticks maximum if the elemental is dispelled. The absence of concentration cost for elementals needs to have a downside.

Nothing Kin says about warlocks should be taken seriously. Warlocks already have ironguard, stone skin, and resist elements that they should be holding 24/7.

Also, I should add that the poll results here are already a bit skewed. I know for a fact that one of the yes votes are Konge's, and naturally his vote should count for somewhere along 60 or 70 regular ones, in adherence with his incredible awesomeness level. So really it should be something like 65 yes, 1 no.

And that they can be dispelled. Making them undispellable rather than making them separate from pets is too much.

I voted no.

I am in favor of giving elementals partial saves from their conjurers.
