should be able to be done with maces, if and only if, the first target they hit is killed. He get ripped in half and you continue your swing to the next one.

Might be hard to code, but make it happen anyway.

Maybe you missed the part where no one cares about blitzkrieg. I certainly don't even train it.

As weapons masters pigeon holing mercs into using slashing weapons is kinda blah. There should be a class skill which, depending on damage type, has a different outcome.

Slashing weapon - Blitzkrieg
Peircing weapon - Impale (hit all 3 rows, 1 column)
Bashing weapon - knockback (causes front row target to prone target behind them)
Elemental weapons - ?
Deadly/divine wrath - bonus damage to aura (Very hypocritical of me, considering my own threat about an overpowered cabal skill that does this)
Lifeleach - ?

Not sure if there are other types of damage weapons out there, but those are the ones I think of off the top of my head.

Merks don't need any buffs atm.

acid bite - 3 random members of the group get acid blasted! :drunk:
sonic weapons - affects the entire group, but much less damage.

elemental weapons:
fire - magma spray
water - saps mana
earth - chance of stun but works like blitz
air - certain fist skill...chance of something...(how far can i go into detail with this?)

lifeleach - vampiric touch

when's the next merc hero tourney?

You might as well stop. This will never happen.

As much as I hate being a naysayer, I'm with VW on this.

Consider three factors for suggestions: impact, cost, and interest.

What do I mean by this?

Take modifications to a blitz:

Impact: This would change gameplay mostly for only mercenary characters.
Cost: Big changes like these represent large blocks of new code that cannot really be recycled from other places. The dependency on weapon held means that this skill's fairness (read: balance) would depend on items available in the game, requiring a good bit of judgment. All in all, this is a pricey suggestion.
Interest: People seem more up in arms about other classes right now. Nerfing sorcs and buffing warlocks, as two examples.

How I would tweak your idea to make it sell better:

Since you want dependency on item wielded, why not suggest builders add scripts to enhance blitzkriegs (and perhaps other melee skills, why not?) to items? It would be much simpler for a particular, infernal halberd to get a sprucing-up with an augmented, special blitzkrieg script than to add this rapidly-complicating mechanic at the character sheet level.

This could be spun as a way of making weapons more interesting, as well. As I've seen, polearms as a weapon group really could use more loving, and this is a way to invite people to do so that still leaves the coders free to focus on high priority patches.

The only thing about this thread I like is impale skill. It makes me thing of a row of spear men setting their spears against a cavalry charge. It's pretty cool. If you've ever played medieval total war and total war too and directed the battles you know how important cavalry are.

I leveled my giant halberd spec merc with blitzkrieg.

That. Junk. HURTS.

The only thing that should be changed about blitzkrieg is any weapon subtype that should be slashing should still be able to blitzkrieg even if it has special damage attack. i.e. the Ender is a falchion with a psychic attack so it can't blitzkrieg though all normal damage falchions can.
