How is a military general who retires after a distinguished career eligible for service?

Actually in the USA retired military personell are often brought back in what they call a mentor program to help evalute stratgies and offer advice and guidance to the armed forces. The pay is very appealing too, it depends on experience and rank.

General Stanley Mccrystal was basically fired from the military but he would likely be able to work for the United States military again through the mentor system.

This game has a mentor system, it works nice.

Ex Officio tribunal/cabal members don't work in an oathbreaker, IC vs OOC environment.

Just look at Linarumien multiplaying and making out-of-character shenanigans with the Fists, for a good example.

Besides, your example -- while true and sensible -- does not apply to what I think was the original scenario: a tribunal member working for another tribunal. This thread is basically about removing oathbreaker.

Being inflexible is the nature of this game. You cannot ever change your alignment no matter what earth-shattering experiences you survive through. You cannot change your class no matter how you may come to envy an alternative lifestyle. You cannot learn certain skills no matter how hard or dutifully you study them. You can only ever be affiliated with one organization no matter how amiable your departure from the first group or how devoted and sincere your motives towards the second group. The best you can do is delete and start over with the same name and description, but even giving yourself previous items is against the rules.

The game only offers you the tools to be one dimensional. All additional dimensions must be supplied by the player.

With the exception of Midnight and Harlequin, each faction has a second group (cabal/tribunal) attached which a player may join without any special or extra effort.

I was not aware of this. Are you saying a Hammer could leave the Hammers and join the Peacekeepers for a real-life year then leave the Peacekeepers and rejoin the Hammers?

This has been possible for years. I want to say 2008. More likely 2006. Not one ounce of IMM intervention is needed to go from Hammer to Keeper and back again, provided there are flagged leaders. Same goes for Druid/Guardian, Fist/Talon, and Hand/Crucible.

Flagged and willing leaders, of course.

I know the Talon has not really gotten along well with the Fist in the time I've been around, mostly because the Fist is a ridiculous cabal with a really awful skillset and laughable roleplay basis.

I mean I see it, the Fist is basically where golden griffon shamans come from and the odd really uptight mediocre PVPer, barring Mit--I mean, glitches.

I bet it has nothing at all to do with the fact that the Talon have no balls.

That is good to know. It represents mechanical support for about 8.9% of the roleplayers interested in this kind of scenario.
