They aren't all that horrible, honestly. At your first tech(halfway through your character's lifespan) you lose a point. Big deal, unless you chose a crappy class/race combination. You lose another one at 3/4. How many characters even last that long, really? Unless you're playing a griffon or something with a short lifespan. But even then, sure it's a handicap, but it's not that big a deal. And then the last tick comes...around 9/10 of the way through your life. Really, if you're still active and depending on your physical stats by that point(by which I mean PKing), then I commend you, but your character's best days are well behind him.

Current and maximum physical stats (STR, DEX, CON) do decrease, at least for the 1/2 age tick (and for the others as well, I believe), and maximum mental stats (INT, WIS, CHA) increase on the 3/4 and 9/10.

I currently have a centaur priest that rolled with 4 dex, which is now down to 3 after the first two age ticks. I suspect it would have dropped again if I hadn't already reached the global minimum. His str has also dropped accordingly; and his con has dropped by at least one point (though I haven't played with mods enough to see if that is also accurate for two).

The last character I played to age death had no degradation in stats. This leads me to believe either some code has changed, or that you're wearing some negative modifier.

There's another explanation. What if those who claim to have lost stats that were at their racial minimum actually "had" stats below that but the minimum prevented it from displaying that low. Then when the minimum dropped with age, their actual stat was revealed?

I'm talking about naked out of the portal, having four dex. And now, naked having three dex.

Perhaps it is a code change, but the likelihood of that is low, unless your last age-death character was more than a year or two ago.
