I didn't make that up. Check out news list in the game. I think it's on there. I am serious. You might have to read each one but I think that was done. It may have been undone later and I didn't know about it. I am going to check too.

When existing NPCs come under control of a PC, their hit points
are reset to an amount that is standard for a PC of that level,
race and class. This affects pets, tamed animals, dominatation,
control undead and charm person (but not leadership).

So, they're supposed to go from 'crazy NPC hp' to 'standard barb PC hp'. I doubt that currently happens.

Lathron is supposed to do that, yes. Waish is supposed to go down to standard swash PC hp...but I am almost 100% positive I didn't need to explain that to you. I just like to be perfectly clear so no one has any questions later.

I think that post is from an era long past when NPCs had about 5X as many hit points as PCs, weapons hit WAY harder, etc. etc. As a temporary fix prior to bringing NPCs hps in line with pc hps, modifying the whole weapon system, etc., Dulrik made it so NPC hps would drop when you charmed them.

As far as I'm aware that doesn't happen anymore.

Agreed. I got it wrong. I think back then all npc were way tougher then their equivilent in pc form. But that was changed. Sorry, I believe I may have gotten peoples hopes up for nothing. I believe I am wrong on this one. It's been many many years since that change, I think I didn't remember it completely.

Exactly right, Jhorleb. This was from the "golden age" of SK when every weapon had its own stats and some charms could level entire cities without getting beyond "a few scratches" (see: soul spider, general of the armies, Murax, etc...)

P.S. Rodwen, look at the date on that news post:
[ 13 Winter Wolf 10, 680 ] Dulrik to all: 10/09/02 Code Update
.............................................................mm/dd/yy

And it was almost 500 IC years ago!

Oh, and while I was making that post...

This is the only thing I found, and I read them all.

news read 16
- Spell mods to charm, domination, seance, exorcism

But, I understand the possibility that since the golden age, lathron's HP has been dropped to that of a GM Barb PC, so the aforementioned drop in HP with charm wouldn't apply to a GM sorc, BUT, I do believe that if a level 45 sorc charmed lathron, lathron's health would drop to that of a level 45 Barb PC.

Also found this on the same article:
- Warlocks harder to level

EDIT: And from what I can understand, the same goes for buying pets...and taming them for that matter...

After thinking about it carefully, I feel confident in saying this:

Level 35 PC bought pet A. Level 50 PC bought pet B. B has substantially more HP than A.

Well, I reported its brokeness and got it changed in the span of one day AFTER we ganked it off of you, (due to taunt). Something tells me you didn't really try that hard.
